It's not really sloppy quality control, more of just your expectations and the limitations of the construction of the Combat Machine line, which is made cheaper and so they can sell them cheaper. A once piece outer barrel would never have that issue (which is on their higher end guns and most mid-high range guns).

If you want a perfect, solid-as-fuck AEG, spend more money and buy a higher quality gun.
