TM pistols are now readily available in Canada, even the ones without the crappy smoked frames. I'd recommend a TM first and then a KWA/KSC second. The TM PX4, P226 are both solid.

You can look all you want through the glass show case, but if you want to hold a pistol, you will be asked to show your RPAL.

back to airsoft....
Redwolf is selling a GBB pistol that is all steel and sounds like the real thing when the slides are racked, Nighthawk Custom.

Thanks for all the help.

Superhog.. seems like a nice piece of kit, but at that price ($1280 US) and needing two.. that is out of my price range for a pistol.

We (this is a joint purchase..wife...) have felt a few more pistols.

Still very much like the M&P 9, P226 and G17.
All will be TM and will depend on any deals I can get.

Perhaps someone can save me the hassle of researching this.
Will any of those mags be interchangeable with other models? (Thats the main reason we are looking at getting the same pistol).

Thanks

No. Only glock mags to an extent are interchangeable.

In calgary there are atleast 2 ranges that let you handle the pistols without an rpal. How else can you expect someone to get in pistol shooting without so much as holding a gun?

Personally I'd choose the G17. if there is a airsoft shop near you, try to see if they have any of those and ask to shoot it, I've done it quite a few times. And decide from there, hope this might help.

Just an update.

I have the glock 22, had the sig 226, and browning HP (all real steel)

As for my thoughts.. I am stuck between a HK 45 and M&P 9 (Both TM versions)
However.. I noticed that the umarex HK 45 is gets good ratings also.

I would appreciate any feedback from people who have / used these two.

What are the major differences?

I noticed, according to ehobby, that the FPS between the two is pretty big.

HK45 280 FPS
M&P 202 FPS

Both with same settings

Is this a big difference? Will it affect anything ie., range, future upgrades (Slide, spring etc).. and what is the reason?

Do you mean HK45? And the "Umarex" HK45 is really just a KWA HK45. They're good guns though.

As for FPS, the TM M&P is likely measured with duster gas which has a lower pressure, hence the lower FPS. Stock TM pistols on propane are around 300fps. Stock KWA pistols on propane are around 320-350.

I hope you don't intend on ordering the gun from Ehobby though (outside Canada).

The difference between 200 and 300 FPS is a large one. I would say greater than the difference between 300 and 400 fps within the same distance of 20m.

200FPS is easily discernible to the human eye.

280fps is more in line to what everyone perceives as a good FPS for a pistol in CQB. You will get good range and stopping power with a 300fps pistol.

No not ordering from ehobby

Just using it for comparison purposes since it listed the fps.

The 280 fps (HK45) to 202 fps (M&P) are both TM pistols. I was surprised by the low fps of the M&P.

I just checked redwolf for M&P.... they list it at 280 (top/green gas)
Airsplat 300 fps for M&P (no mention of gas type).

Probably just a typo then from ehobby.

Most of my play will be outside.

Does this change things up?

Ehobby's is a typo. my m&p9 chronos at 280 to 290fps on average with green gas with 0.20g BBs.

I have both the hk45 and m&p9 and I personally prefer the m&p9 for various reasons.

- grip selection (S,M, L), helps provide a better grip.
- Slightly better accuracy than hk45 somehow... but could be the grip thing.
- Mags are smaller and look cool with Smith and Wesson trades. Better for games since they are more compact (9mm vs .45 acp mags basically).
- gun is smaller, also the same size as a walther ppq (my fav). very flexible and easy to carry.
- m&p9 has the tanio koba rifled barrel made for it. hk45 I could only find the nineball barrel... I would upgrade the barrel straight out of the box for the better trajectory flight & accuracy.

Otherwise... the hk45 is a solid TM gun, looks cool and might fit better in larger hands. Overall there isnt much difference between TM pistols... they are mostly just superb.

however.... I personally find the TM 1911 to shoot the best... really accurate with the single action firing and the trigger reset is amazing. really short trigger pull as well. If you don't have one or haven't fired one... try one. It is amazing.

Ive also heard the TM five seven is dead accurate... and good things about the PX4 as well. But I dont have these so I can't comment much on them. ;d

EDIT: Oh I almost forgot to mention. The M&P9 seems to be more favored by Tokyo Marui. They have already released two versions of it... and there seems to be more upgrade parts available for it. Most likely has something to do with Jerry Miculek and Chris Costa or something... haha

Good choice.
I own the TM p226 e2, 1911a1, PX4, and the hi-CAPA.
I just bought the M&P9 V-custom and I love it.
The 226 was my preferred side arm but now I think it will be the M&P9. It's the lightest pistol I own but it feels good.
Also there are a lot of awesome slides coming out for it now. I might be picking up a detonator slide soon.

Glad you didn't go with the G17. They tent to have a bunch of problems for the TM.

here is my overview of my M&P http://youtu.be/ivYoRudh2Hc

Thanks Flawless.

First game tomorrow at Mach1. Looking forward to it. Biorage mentioned that his front site came off. I was watching while I have been practicing with it, and mine also came off. Nothing a bit of crazy glue cant fix

As for the slides. I really like the look of the detonator, but about the same price as I paid for the gun lol.

Going to watch your review.
