Chest rig Or PC + Hydration

I need to get a hydration carrier going. I'm tired of carting a water bottle around in my dump pouch where it's banging against me when I run around or making my dump pouch flop out from behind the tree I'm hiding against and gets me killed!

So I know I will be buying "stuff" in the near future, perhaps you can help out.

I'm not really super psyched to buy a stand alone hydration carrier with straps, because I don't want to have straps over straps over straps if you catch my drift.

I spied some chest rigs that can be integrated directly with a hydration carrier (PIG Brig CR + PIG Hydration carrier) which seem cool. My question there would be is it uncomfortable on your back to have a full hydration carrier right up against your back?

Is it more comfortable to mount a hydration carrier to the back of a PC for weight distribution? I don't really *need* a PC but maybe that's the better way to go.

Any input welcome.

what rifles/guns do you own? What are you most likely to field on a given day vs a backup if things breakdown.

If all you own are m4s then it makes it easy... everything on the market caters to an m4 setup.

How customizable do you want it? You can go with super light weight like a tactical tailor mav and add whatever carrier and pouches you want... or you can go with a plate carrier or chest rig that have some integrated pouches, some molle space.

I jury rigged a condor rrv with one of thier small pack/hydro carriers for Op No Nods. Worked pretty decent as I was not wanting the same straps over straps as you mentioned either.

M4 mag compatible guns only at this time. Next year I'll get an AK

That being the case I'd like to get some taco's to put on whatever it is I end up getting.

Maybe I should rephrase.

I have a chest rig now that doesn't seem compatible with a hydration carrier, unless I want the hydration carrier to have it's own separate straps (which I don't).

I don't need a ton of space/weight so I was interested in a chest rig that integrates with hydration, but I'm wondering if it is more comfortable to have the hydration pack directly on your back (chest rig + hydro carrier) or to have it molle mounted onto the back of a PC (pc + hydro carrier).

And perhaps if you've found a solution you're in love with, you can share.

only the pantac rrv I think has a fully integraded back piece/hydration carrier so you might be stuck having to replace the whole setup. It's possible there are other back panels you can get that include the shoulder straps that you can integrate to this rig, but that might trap you into spending money for this specific rig that you can't use elsewhere.

If you are already considering a gun that uses different mags, it may not be a bad idea to start putting together that taco rig. The TT rigs aren't terribly expensive from somewhere like dstactical, the tacos add up real fast.

Yes I'm ready to go I'm an entirely new direction for LBE. Just trying to decide on chest rig plus hydration or pc plus hydration.

prety much any "stand alone" hydration can be rigged up to prety much any rig or pc, just need some zap straps/zip ties and or duct tape and yer gtg.
also i should note that a stand alone (like the condor one thats covered in webbing) has removeable straps and has the molle straps to attach it to a PC. And also the same condor one has super skiny straps and if u put it on under a chest rig youll hardly notice its there

If you are gonna go with a new rig I reccomend an RRV. Versitile as hell and it does have hydro options. Or do it yourself like I did lol. I dont have pics avail atm but if you want a example I will send you some when I get back home this weekend.

May I suggest that you use an x-harness with your chest rig?

I use one of these with my HSGI Denali as I did not like the stock cross over straps. You may need to do a bit of slicing and sewing to accommodate your rig's buckle setup to the x-harness but it is doable.
