Mix and matching gearbox shell halves

Hello, this is kind of a odd question, but my vfc 416 had the v2 problem of the trigger post breaking off. I ordered a new lonex gearbox, but the lonex gearbox doesn't have the bolt catch mechanism on it, which is a feature I really want to keep. Can I just take the lower part of the lonex gearbox and the top half of the vfc one? So I get both? Or would it cause stress and problems?

No, you can't.

But you CAN drill a small hole where the post was, and install a long setscrew with thread locker. It will replace the post perfectly and never break.

That's smart! Any recommendation for the size of screw to use?

2mm or 4-40 works fine.

You can mix gearbox shells many times. Try it before you give up.
