HFC 134a or HFC22 top gas
similar to propane?
i'm looking at grenades
they specify HFC 134a or HFC22 top gas
if i get propane and silicone, i'm good?

You should be fine with propane. Top gas is green gas if I'm not mistaken and green gas is propane.

134a = Weaker gas, usually recommended for mauris/wa (plastic slides)

Propane + AI Adaptor + AI Oil-Pump Kit = Good to go.

I know I have heard for TM pistols you need to use duster instead of propane or GG as that's what they were designed to be used with.

Hmm don't think 134a is exactly duster gas, I read it's almost the same, but not equivalent.

I also read that the HFC134a is at around 80PSI, and Duster at 60PSI, and GG is higher then those.

People state that you should should only run duster on TM, since they are designed for Japan, and over there they don't use GG/Propane. Thus why metal slide and all these other upgrades came to exist for TM products :P

Either that or just run the TM to the ground on any gas, and replace parts when needed.

Actually, hfc134a "used to be" duster but was judged too harmful to the environnement, though I think some freezing gas cans still use it.

hfc134 can still be bought, its roughly $30 a bottle, its used for Automotive air conditioning

HFC134A can be acquired for $20 a bottle at the lowest price, however less and less places are starting to carry it...
I still have a case of it laying around, I use them on my Western Arms.

Duster: 65psi
HFC-134a: 80psi
GG & Propane: 120psi

most of the lastest airsoft are accepted top gas and green gas to get the best performance(blow back and kick). But the internal may not last long and needs to be replace sooner. Japanese airsoft brands are mostly recommenced HFC-134a, if you use top gas or propane, you should expect what will happen.

HFC 134a is supposed to be phased out by something like 2018 and as of now IIRC not being manufactured anymore, you can only recover it (it's used for automotive AC and refrigerators).

"Duster" is currently Difluoroethane; it use to be Tetrafluoroethane (HFC 134a).

"Blue gas" was bottled HFC-134a with lubricants, similar to "Green Gas" being propane + silicone.

HFC22 (HCFC-22, Chlorodifluoromethane) was "Red Gas" and pre-dates propane and has slightly higher pressure. This hasn't been around for a decade+.

"TOP Gas" is generally associated to Green Gas but it was actually something else with similar pressure/performance ("HFC-122" -- whatever that's supposed to be). And just to add to the confusion, there was (still is?) a company called TOP which sold green gas.

So all in all, you're fine with propane.
