The ICS M4 is a very solid gun and IMHO the split gearbox design is amazing and by far the strongest selling point of the ICS M4.
That being said however, the problems I've found so far are very similar to ones the other users have said... cutoff lever and motor for starters... Aside from that though I just wish it were easier to get replacement parts here in Canada for your guns. I am working on a pretty unique modification for the ICS M4 and I needed a few replacement parts to play around with and cut up, but to my suprise no one could import stuff from your website since you're not affiliated with a retailer over there and our importers deal only with overseas retailers for the most part and not with the manufacturers themselves. It took me a solid 2 months to find an extra upper reciever and I had to contact almost every retailer/importer I could think of here before I found someone who could get it, and they ended up buying it from the US at a rather inflated price... if it was easier and cheaper to get ICS replacement parts here, I'm sure you would sell a LOT more of your pre-upgraded gearbox halves. Heck I would have bought a few myself by now. Anyways, thanks for asking for our input. It's appreciated and we respect the fact that you're taking airsofters experience with your guns into consideration. Mark |

- Imperfect moulds (some lines do not seem straight or even) - Visible sprue points... sometimes to the point of jutting out beyond a reasonable amount ... among many other typical signs of low cost Asian manufacturing. Don't get me wrong... ICS isn't "garbage." I feel that they provide very innovative products for the community. It's just that their production value leaves a lot to be desired, especially by guys like me who really enjoy high quality consumer products. In my eyes, if it's not the best in quality, I wouldn't even consider it for my own personal use. Let's just say I would pick ICS over Classic Army... |

I had a relatively new player bring me an ICS M4 to look at today. The player, while new, has a significant automotive mechanics background and is very knowledgable about the inner workings of his gun to the point where he completely strips, cleans, and relubes his upper mechbox after every game day.
He informed me that he has had constant problems with his gun, including a bunked motor (shredded pinion gear) and (as of today) 2 shredded pistons. The pistons were (I believe) Systema Area 1000, and in both cases (including today) the rear tooth was complete torn off. All of this after only 1 summer of use. The gun itself is running 8.4 volts and an SP120 spring. I visually inspected the gun asked him to show me how he assembles it and he knows what he's doing when he puts it together.
