Steel barrel for KWA Mk23

So I have an ns2 Mk23 by KWA. I did not like the plastic barrel at all, and so ordered an ra-tech steel barrel from ehobby. I just ordered the barrel, not the slide, because the slide + barrel combo seems to be in the price bracket of those who have some pocket cash left over from putting diamond spinners on their gold jet ski. Also I heard that the steel slide lowers fps. Don't want that. I had to file down the top of the rear square part of the barrel that fills the ejection port, in order for the slide to actually go back at all. The gun functions perfectly right now, and the added weight and stability when using a suppressor is awesome. After having to do that file job, though, I'm getting wary of the long-term effects of this barrel.

With this configuration, what areas should I be particularly checking for wear, and how soon do these effects normally begin to show?

What kind of lubrication has worked best for you for metal on metal parts?

Honestly, is the metal barrel worth it, or will the cons outweigh the pros within a couple of months?

The steel barrel is cool but it needs to be modded. Your using steel parts with pot metal and aluminum. The steel will chew into the softer metals. I can explain in detail later, if you're interested. I'm typing on a tablet now and it sucks.

My plastic barrwl did just fine on sunday and i had a major holster fail....gun and holster got ejected as i was hauling ass to flank tan team

I had filed the top part, didn't think about the lower teeth. Thanks. I'm assuming in the long run that this will still shorten the longevity of my pistol D: What do you recommend for smoothing off the top part/ the file did the job but it looks like baghdad. Also, if you have any suggestions as far as lubrications go, that would be awesome, some say grease, others say gbb oil. Thanks for the help man.

I am wall hanging until I get a downgrade spring on my AEG and the rest of my gear comes in. I think I'm going to stick to the plastic barrel for most games though.

how is the wear on the internals after a couple of months now? I have almost the same problem, only i just received a KSC cnc steel barrel for my kwa mk23. the plastic barrel and the ksc barrel are almost identical, but i have to file the rear most spot where the moving part goes into, opposite of vinks photo.

Holy cow dinosaur thread. After filing it down, I used the barrel a few times, and to be honest the only reason I would use it is if you were going to run the heavy-as-hell TM suppressor on it. After some extended use, the Mk23 runs beautifully with the plastic barrel and the risk of wearing down my most expensive handgun was not something I was too keen on increasing D:
