G&g tr4 cqbr
I was wondering if anyone has this gun and their thoughts on it? I am curious how it differs from the Max CQBR (which I have). Are the receivers anodized or powder coated?
Thanks! |

Don't know what the finish is, but the G&G Toptech Advanced lineup are top quality guns.
The "MAX" line some retailers had was just a Canadian name for upgraded G&G's to pass importation. I'm assuming it was their middle of the line guns being sold for premium prices, not the Toptechs. Last edited by Styrak; January 4th, 2013 at 18:28.. |

Superficially I understood the same (re mass upgrades for importation). I bought my MAX about 2 yrs ago and have resisted opening it so as to not let the magic smoke out. It has a powder coat on it that so far hasn't been scratched (even after mounting various optics) and silver wiring. No wobbles and everything fits, feeds and fires perfectly.
Anyways, I have been severely impressed by my MAX (compared to others I own, ICS, KWA, KA, WE) that I am in the market for another gun and was wondering if the top tech line was much different. With the MAX line still going for $150 premium over top tech I was hoping to find the factual differences. Last edited by unknownvariable; January 4th, 2013 at 19:11.. |

I'm interested in this as well.
I'm thinking that the Max may be premium priced still since the stock currently being sold was imported when prices were so much higher as well as the requirement to upgrade before being imported. Last I heard the Max and the Toptech were identical in every way except for the name but the Toptech was new import (at lower prices) and the FPS is lower. I can't confirm whether or not that is correct though. |

Makes sense.. couple of things have me question this.
Looking as close as I can at the G&G website, the TR series looks like they are anodized or just straight painted. The coating doesn't appear thick like the powder coat MAX. But that is just the way it looks to me. An owner should be able to confirm. The MAX line is "advertised" to have silver wiring and reinforced blah blah etc. Most of the TR series lacks this fancy advertising. Is there anything to that? Dunno, but it makes me wonder.. which is why I asked the question. The MAX was always over priced, and G&G for various reasons has been under represented in Canada. This makes getting decent information regarding a factual (A/B) comparison difficult (thus far). |

I am currently looking at 5 G&G Toptech AR's on my store wall right now. They have very smooth finishes, not powder coated. Also very solid rifles with a lot of nice qualities like locking bolts, one piece metal barrels (the M16 I took the handguard off had a real-steel barrel profile), fiber/polymer furniture, and just generally feel solid.
The reason why the MAX line was so "hyped" as you say was obviously to try to sell more of them. Which is reasonable from a marketing perspective but I think almost all G&G guns have "silver wiring" and such. |
