g&p low profile front sight?
Hey gentlemen, I just purchased a g&p Moe and am looking for a folding front sight to replace the stock one with because I want to slam a scope on her,but would also like to use the iron sights for cqb and as such was wondering if there was anything that could quench both my thirsts
P.s. does anyone have any suggestions for a nice foergrip (sp?) |

Well you can't really co-witness a scope with iron sights, unless you're getting a red dot. Why not just get higher scope rings or use a riser?

I have the King Arms Vltor sight tower as well and it is pretty much rock solid unless your outer barrel has a bunch of play. It mounts with hex screws and not pins so you can adjust the cant of the block to exactly where you need it. As for mounting a red dot on it, acquiring the dot with it that far forward may not be the quickest but it is doable.

Hey guys I'm planning on getting cheek risers for the stock, a Moe slingmount for the stock tube, and the vltor front sight, do you think I should grab a afg or a vertical foregrip? Open to all suggestions.

I have both, and personally I like the VFG on my shorter MP5, and the AFG on my longer M4.
The idea is that you want to have as much contact with the front of the actual gun as possible, so that you can have more control over it. For example, if you swing to your left, you want your gun to stop exactly when you stop turning. You'll have more control to stop the momentum of the front of the gun, if your hand is in the path of movement. A lot of people wrap their hand all the way around the barrel, for even more control. For me, a foregrip is a good point of reference for where to put my hand, and makes the position of my hand a lot more comfortable. When I hold my MP5, I'll wrap my pinky, ring finger, and thumb around the VFG, and extend my middle and index finger straight out along the barrel. It lets me hold it comfortably, and gives me a fair bit of control over a light and recoil-less toy. On the other hand, a longer gun is harder to control (going back to the momentum scenario, a longer gun, means more momentum at the end of the barrel), and I like to have my entire hand around the barrel, instead of just my two fingers. The AFG is pretty low profile, and keeps me from having to twist my wrist a whole lot. You don't necessarily need a foregrip though. I have an M4 with a rail set that's thick, and the AFG is good for that, but I've got another that has a regular set of rails, that (with a rail cover) is comfortable to hold with no foregrip. I'll run my MP5 with no grip half the time as well. Go with whatever's comfortable for you. The good news is that foregrips (knockoffs, anyway) are fairly cheap, so you can experiment with them all you want. Pickup an angled foregrip, a vertical foregrip, a stubby... Or see what other people are running on theirs at a game. Some people might even let you borrow theirs for a quick game during a skirmish, so you can see how it feels on your gun. I've personally don't have a preference to one or the other. I will say I would rather have a stubby rather than a full length vertical grip, and I tend to lean on the side of an AFG but that's because it's what I have. That and I find it works better on a longer rifle.
I will agree completely with what Firestorm said, I'd rather take a VFG on a short gun. On something longer I would rather have an AFG or a slick rail for better muzzle control. Either way the choice is up to you and I would say go for whatever feels the most comfortable. If you can get a cheap VFG give it a shot and if you don't like it no tears shed over wasted money. Basically what Firestorm said is bang on to my thoughts. |

The front railed flip sight may look odd on your MOE, This will be a better look *Used this on mine.
G&P KAC Flip Up Sight Another reason to love this sight is that it locks in place, one thing I did not like about the VLTOR sight. I was always knocking it down and having to re-adjust. Here it is on my old MOE: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=147323 Last edited by TANNER; December 7th, 2012 at 10:46.. |
