KJW P229 vs KWA/ASG G17

Hello,

First off I am 24 year old from Slovenia, and would just need an expert advice on whether to get myself the KJW P229 or the KWA/ASG G17.

I had the TM P226 last year and it just didn't impress me enough. Now I have the chance to get an almost brand new KWA G17 (used once) for 80€ or a used KJW P229 with spare magazine (with a guarantee that it performs flawlessly from one of the best service technician in my country).

If anyone has any good feedback on what to get, I'd be extremely happy.

I can't speak to the KWA, but I've owned KJW pistols.
The TM are nice build, but their pistols shoot very soft. I got a KJW P226 (full metal) and it's a good pistol. Shoots pretty well stock, but: KJW mags are crap. They leak no matter what, and when you're shooting a lot they just freeze up and dump your gas.
I replaced my KJW mags with the new TM P226-E2 mags, and they're amazing. WAY better thermal performance, and much better quality too. I really like them, and they've totally changed the way I can use my pistol.
So, IMHO, KJW full metal pistols are good, but you have to at least replace the mags to get solid performance out of them.

I haven't heard much about KWA, personally, so I couldn't advise there.

Both have their merrits.

The 229 is a neat little pistol. It has great kick for a compact carry. The thing with it is it's made of cheap metals. Mine had a piece of the hop up unit break off while firing. And as Masterless specified, it does poorly on gas effectivness.

The KWA Glock is also a good choice. They built pretty strong. But i almost dont recmemd you buying a used one. Simply because no matter "how new" the previous owner claims it to be, you dont actually know the state of the pistol and its internals. KwA/KSC Glocks are synomous for waring and tearing in their internal compenents. Not because they are made of poor material but because of how they are designed. In particular, the sear and hammer hooks will wear out much quicker than any other Glock makes.

when KWA Glocks fail, they fail hard. It's tricky troubleshooting them because they have an intricate internal set up.

The good news is that parts can be ordered from KWA directly. Just give them a ring and they'll send some stuff out for you.

It really depends if you want a compact or a full size pistol for pointability and ergomomics. I for one love how Glocks feels with their slimmer grip width.
