Bolt for Insight Tech M6x Tac Laser/Illumnator

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if any of you can identify a bolt and perhaps direct me to where I might be able to buy a replacement.

As the title says, it's for an Insight Technology M6x Tactical Laser Illuminator.

I took some pictures of it here (including one of my temp solution :P )

If I can't find an exact bolt, I'm just going to go to Home Depot/Canadian Tire and see if I can find ANYTHING that will fit.

yeah i would try the bulk bins at home depot. Just bring the light and nut in there and see what fits. Or you could contact Insight directly to see if they can get you a replacement part.

Contact L3 Warrior. This sort of thing is something you can handle with them. Do not send it to them, just ask to have it mailed to you here in Canada.

you're not going to find that at HD. Even a specialty fastener supply store probably wouldn't have it.

You could probably find something with the same threading, maybe you'll find one with a smooth shaft, but smooth shaft at x length and an overly large cheesehead... maybe not. I think the parts counter at canadian tire can give you the proper thread count/spacing to let you know what you're looking for in terms of the size.

edit: generally HD and CT don't carry very fine machine screws. You'll have to try a specialty fastener supply store if you have one where you are.

Thanks guys.

I think I'll just check HD/CT first for the sheer ease of it.

If no avail, I guess I'll shoot an email to Insight/W3. I'm not sure how they deal with non-military customers though. haha.

It's a civilian laser, so I'm sure you'll do just fine.

You might find something without the same smooth shaft but I'd look for a screw/bolt of similar length and the same threading. If you find something longer, cut it to length, but buy a couple matching nuts and thread them on first to de-burr the end. Also with the head size if there is nothing of the same size, use a washer.

Be creative and it shouldn't cost more than $0.40 and a few minutes of your time. I tend to ask the HD staff for help as they know where there inventory is typically stored. Just explain that you don't need an exact match.

For a simple replacement, it's probably an M3 or M4 machine screw/bolt. Coach's solution is probably the best bet. Though the HDs in my area don't carry any bolts that small.

See if you have a fastenal around your area.

Contact Insight directly. I had them send me replacement parts once theyverify you have a legit unit.
