Charging Help
I have a NiMH 9.6V 1600mAh battery with a Turnigy Accucell 6 charger. I am trying to charge it for my first time however the battery has been charged once before.
I notice when I plug it in a begin a CHARGE it does not recognize the previous charge in it already. Also this charger only lets me set the amp charge rate but not the voltage or anything unlike the Lipo charge settings. My question is how do I know this thing will charge it correctly? Am I missing anything? I cannot find any info for this charger on charging NiMH anywhere! |

Set to nimh (man).
Set charge rate (amps) to 1.6 Hold down start/enter button Go bake cookies Done

Ok so unlike the Lipos it doesn't show how much the current charge is?

A smart charger will change voltage constantly to charge the battery properly. A empty battery will need less voltage at the beginning. While it's charging the voltage will constantly go up (to compensate for the battery's voltage).
And no, a charger will not "detect" what charge a battery currently has. It's just senses what voltage the pack is at and charges according to that. You can look at the current voltage to see approximately where it's at, if your charger displays current voltage. |

For NiMH, smart chargers typically tell you how many mAh it just put into the battery and stops once it reaches a set voltage. eg. you have a 1100mAh battery that is half depleted. It can then only cram another 550mAh (max- perfect situation) before it will stop since it will have reached maximum voltage
mA should be set at 1C and will slowly decrease as the battery gets fuller. |
