Simply put, they are fucking crap.

If you don't want to spend $600, don't play airsoft.

Tho for $600 you can get everything you need if you look in the right places.

Yep, BC_K's got it right.

If you're over the age of eighteen, get verified by a local representative so you can access the buy/sell forums.

It's pretty simple....you get what you pay for. Would you try and be a competitive skateboarder on a $40 deck? Or a competitive golfer with $75 clubs? How about a competitive skiier/snowboarder with $100 worth of boots/bindings and slab? Skydiving with a $75 parachute?

Didn't think so.

You need a bare minimum of about $600 worth of gun/gear/safety equipment to even start to be competitive. Anything less and you're only cheating yourself.

I think that is the best analogy regarding start up airsoft costs I've seen yet! Exceptional Skruface! Good stuff.

- expect to pay at least $50+ on a great pair of googles/mask if you care about your face and teeth =)
- bbs = $20 a bag + game fee
- AEG($350+) or GBB ($150+)
- gun case? $50
- charger($50+) and battery ($60+)
- extra mags? even if you think you can play with 1 low-cap. think again! $35++!

- would you wear camo? if so add another $50-$100 for ONE set of camo
- how about vest for mags or anythign else? maybe $50-$200 depending on what brands you buy *you dont need one*. [ Black Hawk industries!! all the way! ]
- going to play in your runners? =) good boots = $75 and up!

you cannot expect to play safely with only $400 in your pocket! haha even with only $600... unless you play with a boys M4?

You can get started in airsoft for $600 or less. (but $1000 is just SO much better. )

either buy a really low priced gun package
-Gun
-Hi-cap mag
-Battery
-Cheap charger

then buy a really cheap 30 dollar paintball mask on ebay... use your old runners for airsoft (spraypaint them black) and buy some second hand camo (probably wont be able to afford any good stuff on 600 since you probably have less then 40 bux left after you buy the gun package, mask and spray paint)... so second hand camo....it will most likely have rips+tears and be a little faded but its all you can afford if you only dish out 600 to start in this hobby.

New to the sport, haven't even been to a game yet.
Here's what I've spent so far;

AEG- Used TM M16VN(Stock) w/ 2 star lowcaps - $325
GBB- Used KSC Glock(Souped) w/ 2 mags - $375
BBs- x2 Bags of BB Bastard House Brannd - $30
Charger- BB Bastard NPT Charger - $60
Battery- BB Bastard Batt - $35
Replacemet Part #78 For the Glock (F*er Broke Already) - 8.50

Total~ 833.50

And I still need;
Cammo- Probally looking at $100
Mags- (30x2 rounds aint enough) $60-80
Eye Protection- $50-100

Yikes!

I would suggest NOT wearing sneakers, but going to walmart or a surplus store and getting a cheap pair of boots at the very least. Shoes of any kind can lead to badly twisted ankles or worse.
