tm 5.1 scope mount and parts
hi im new to airsofting here and i want to build a race gun.. the problem is im kinda short of money and want to build it bit by bit.. my concern right now is i want to get the pdi 7 inches inner barrel (which im having a hard time finding in the philippines btw), and the scope. stock gun was good enough to make internal upgrades some other time.
but i heard that once you put the mount and scope on, you will not be able to remove the slide is that right? i mean you can but that will make the screw loose eventually which means you have to change the whole frame.. so does that mean that mount and scope should be the last thing i install? boy that would take a while.. a year i guess.... and also, can you recharge the battery on a cmore scope? what happens if it dies out? does it mean you have to remove it, put a new battery on or if possible, recharging but then you have to zero in every time you remove the battery right? if this is true then wow that's a lot of hassle with the scope alone.. one last question: if i put on the 7 inches inner barrel, will it be ok to leave the iron sights? or will the sights not work anymore unless i install a scope? ive been to other airsoft forums but people there are not so friendly and kinda rude.. someone directed me here and told me that this is a nicer environment forums so im hoping someone could help a newbie with his basic problems.. thanks a lot! Depending on the mount you get, and how low you mount it, yes, it can become difficult or impossible to takedown the gun without removing the optics.
Constant loosening and tightening of the mount screws will eventually strip the threads if you're drilling/tapping in to a stock Marui frame. The soft die-cast aluminum will not take constant turning well. If you must do it, use a coarser threading rather than a fine thread. It's recommended to upgrade to a high end billet aluminum receiver if you wish to do a lot of installation/removal of the mount... or use a quick detach mount that doesn't require drilling. But yes, the optics and mount are the last thing you should install. CMore batteries are not rechargeable... if they are, I've never seen them. "What happens if the battery dies?" You go to the store, buy another battery, and replace it - just like you would with your tv remote control. You don't need to re-zero the scope each time you replace, as you don't need to remove the optics to access the battery compartment. It's top-accessible. If you put in a 7 inch barrel... feel free to do whatever you want with the open sights. There is no rule book that says you will burn in hell if you decide to use open sights with a compensated gun. Wilson Combat had a compensated 1911 in production for years with iron sights. Jim Boland was also famous for doing this before optics were the rage. I can't see why the sights wouldn't work anymore... what's your logic behind this thinking? You're over-thinking, my friend. Keep it simple. Buy it, install it, shoot it. Have fun, and be safe. |

Illusion made a bunch of great points...read through that carefully.
Keep it simple. Put it this way...your pistol works just fine now. Whatever you change stands more of a chance of making it worse than it is right now vs. making it better. Race guns are NOT cheap...start with that. Most of it will be cosmetic...but all the bits are expensive. If you're going for looks.... - adding a comp + inner barrel is a good start. Lots of bang for your bucks. - I'd go with a two sided optic mount...just because nothing in airsoft is really perfect and it'll be super annoying if your mount is even a little bit canted. Plus...with twice as many screws there's a bit more coverage for threads loosening up. - don't really crank down hard on the optic mount screws...they can't take it. Use a touch of thread loc instead. - lower optic mounts look better than higher ones on a "proper" race gun...just my own opinion. Get a filler for your front and rear sights (like a charging/cocking handle)...most of those are so low profile that you can still take your slide off with the mount on. If you're going for performance/reliability.... - stick to the stock stuff as much as possible - focus on hopup unit, inner barrel, nozzle, piston head - lighter blow back units...like the Nine Ball plastic one...are quite nice - steel sears/hammers/etc...are nice...there's very fine performance differences, but if you're tight on money wear out your stock ones first. |
