A couple of questions:

1. why is the cylinder unported considering its a short barreled rifle?
2. What battery size fits the crane stock model? Subc/mini etc etc.
3. How's the gearbox holding up to the canadian winter?

I have to disagree, I recently opened up my gearbox to change out the shitty piston head they all come with. To my surprise however, the reinforced gearbox was packing:
- 8mm ball bearing bushings, shimmed to perfection.
- metal ball bearing spring guide
- non-linear m110 spring
- the piston head being replaced had bearings which I used on the replacement as well.
- Piston showed no signs of wear.
- Bevel also had 5 grooves.
- Gears were well lubricated.
- cylinder head has only 1 o ring, made proper seal but also was made of plastic. Looked like something you'd rip out of an JG or echo1.

G&G is really upping their game, the only difference I see between this gearbox and my G&G is the cylinder head. I can't really knock the G&G's piston head down too much because I play all year round and winter's here get cold. Considering this gun has been played every week to every other week for the past year the piston head definitely did it's job. Definitely was surprised to see no wear on the piston.

Overall SRC and KWA both sport better quality products than G&G, but G&G isn't too far behind.

BTW, For those who don't know.. The G36 models are almost identical in parts and materials used in the mechbox.

Ever since we started having the SRC Gen III Pros, I have a lot of people asking me to compare Gen III with Gen III Pro. I should really do another review of the Gen III Pro gear box, but here is the differences you will see:

SRC Gen III vs SRC Gen III Pro

Gen III has 6.05 tight bore barrels, Gen III Pro has 6.03 super tight bore barrels
Gen III has M120 Spring, Gen III Pro has M140 Spring
Gen III has Steel reinforced gear set, Gen III Pro has Steel reinforced helical cut gear set
Gen III has regular motor pinion gear, Gen III Pro has Steel CNC motor Pinion gear
Gen III has tinted glass fiber receiver, Gen III Pro has full metal receivers

Gen III Pro is only $ 50 more than Gen III

Don't those require much more precise shimming? How's SRCs stock gear shimming?

Did you buy that from 007? The model on the 007 website looks like it has a metal lower receiver but the version in the airsoft section on milsig has a tinted lower receiver. Hmmmmm

Why bring back a year old thread lol...

But now that it's up: Are SRC's a decent (mid range or up) AEG? I know it won't be a TM, but could it survive a few years if treated right? I've only worked with GBBs so far, so I know very little about the electric gun world. Thanks!

It was an AEG that I bought along with 2 others (GBBR) and I was going to do a review on its all 3 performance at the end of the year...this was a problem child from the get go.
