Is this charger decent?

Hey all, i got this Multi-Current Smart Charger ( 1-2 A ) For any Airsoft 4.8V - 10.8V NiMH / NiCd Battery Packs charger with my gun, is this a decent charger to have or should i invest in something better?

I've read that it should take between 3.5-4 hours to fully charge the battery, would you agree?

Thanks!

Throw it in the garbage can and buy a real charger with a display.

Charging time depends on the battery, and the charger.

Any reasonably-priced suggestions? How much should i look to spend? Should i get brand new, or is used ok?

I have an 8.4v 1100 mah battery.

Check on ebay. I bought a Piranah charger for 25$ when I see it sold here for 100$.

There's no magic chargers. You want one with a screen and customisation.

Probably the easiest/cheapest route is to go to a RC car shop.

Get good batteries and you are in business

Check out www.cheapbatterypacks.com

I used their Elite cells batteries and they are excellent.

I'm going to point out that the charger that the OP linked to is an alright charger. It IS a smart charger. It has negative delta V detection and will cut off current.

Now is it the best charger you can get for your money? No, but it is an alright charger. At the end of the day the B6 is probably your best bet.

Also known as the blue boxes of death... :P

My batteries are worth more, the charger will pay itself quickly in batteries lasting much longer.

I have 2 Elite 1500mAH mini batteries and I can play two days with just one battery.

And probably more. I've never ran out of power with a single one.

Yup, nothing really wrong with that charger. I still have mine kicking around somewhere, still works fine.

However, you'll have issues with batteries in the 2,500 Mah+ range. It WILL NOT fully charge anything over 3,000 Mah.

A proper smart charger is still the best bet, but for a budget the blue one is acceptable.

Nothing wrong with the charger in the OP's link. I've been using one for the past 5 years and have had no issues with it or my batteries as a result. It may not be a Cadillac with all the bells and whistles, but it will charge your battery and stop charging when the battery is full. Just because it doesn't have 395 dials, switches and displays, doesn't make you french toast and hold your dick for you when you take a piss doesn't mean it's no good.

I would say it's not good on 3000+ mAh batteries, as I've had no problem charging up to 2800 mAh with it, but my 3500 mAh NiMH battery never gets a full charge using it.

So like kalnaren said, a proper smart charger is better, but if all you have is this little charger, it will work just fine without frying your batteries.
