You can always try to get the other version which is more faithful to the real thing.

Is the weird rubber thing on the MX5 Pro's pistol grip removable? For that matter, can I swap the rearsight/front rail/stock for regular ones to make it look exactly like the real steel version?

Yes, the rubber grip part is removable. One of the 1st things I did. Overall I love this gun. One down side is mag compatibility, it seems to be very picky on what mags fit and feed properly.

Despite all their mods, the upper receiver appears to be identical the original MP5 receiver right?

I have a slightly off topic question regarding the MX5... How in sam-hell do you remove the upper half of the mechbox from the receiver? My brother recently bought one of these and is pretty happy with it, but it's shooting really high and to the right. We figure either the hop up is messed up or there are some grease globs or something somewhere. As far as I can tell you should just be able to open the receiver and slide the top half out, but the little tab for the tappet plate (Black plastic piece attached to the nozzel, thats what it's called right?) sticks down too far to fit under a crossbar at the back of the receiver. I mean I could take a pair of snips to the bar, but that seems like an awful idea and there must be another way.

If you are talking about the black plastic piece when trying to slide the mechbox out of the upper, it folds sideways to allow you to get it out.

Angry front sight

:banghead:Since I see many of you guys own the MX5-P I have a question, I got one too and I pretty much changed all the parts on it but the huge flash hider on the MS1 is really bugging me so I bought a small one that looks like the real thing and I saw the front sight online. Now heres the thing, I tried to remove the flash hier and the 14mm extension and OMG the extension I sure as hell hope its not welded in but I pretty much destroying it trying to remove the F$%^$ thing, when I look inside I see the little part where my new flah hider would just slide in but how the hell do I remvove th5 14mm thing????? Trust me I tried everything and banging with a hammer and a screwdriver from the other side to push it out didnt work I just messed it up so now I must take it out of the part is useless. Any advise on this??? oh yeah the mace is the only thing I havent reied yet lol :banghead:

miss)
i dont understand why people keep saying ICS guns are not compatible with aftermarket parts. personally owning a version 2 gearbox ive had no trouble with all the internal parts except the air nozzle and the hop up unit, but personally i believe the ICS hop up unit is perfectly fine. just the o ring of the air nozzle that may cause minor reduction in fps, but like i said its possible to modify an air nozzle by sanding it down a bit.
