EBR

I'm trying to get an EBR. At first I tried to get the G&P kit for my TM M14 but I couldn't find one. So I'm going to purchase either the G&G or The CA short barrel socom. Just wondering if there is a difference between the two manufacturers? I know that they both take G&G mags. It's the internals I wondering about? I know that TM is the best M14 out there, I have two but the EBR is what I lust after!!

I have a standard g&g socom from the max series... the max ebr is not cheap.. but, after about 10k rounds, my gearbox is still in great shape. The piston was showing a bit of wear on the teeth so I replaced it just in case. The trigger contacts are a concern on g&g (I think they're a concern on every aeg personally), but that will be fixed with a simple mosfet.

I got big gripes about the standard plastic stock, but that doesn't apply to the ebr... that thing is all CnC aluminum and heavy as hell.

i have the classic army m14 EBR scout. this thing is a beast. i have had absolutely zero problems with mine. she looks great and shoots awesome. i haven't opened the mechbox or anything but i've had no reason to as it's been working super good.

i do have to warn you about the weight as this gun is heavy. i'm 6 foot and 220, so it's not a big deal for me. but if you're a smaller guy, it could be tiring to lug around a long and heavy gun.

also, like lurkingknight said, EBRs are not cheap. they'll run you a good penny.

mine in all her glory!

The TM is the best AEG version of the M14. Apparently you can fit it to a real EBR kit with little modification. The WE M14 open bolt is the most realistic one you can get. It's a laser out of the box. WE and RA-Tech box make a very sturdy EBR kit exclusive for it. You can also get a full set of reinforced RA-Tech parts for the internals to make it indestructible. It's expensive when all is said and done, but very worth it. It's also very very heavy. I've held the G&G, CA, and TM versions. The WE has pounds on them.

thanks

Thanks for the posts and help guys. I really dont want another gas gun so the WE is out for me. I have the WE 416 and most of the mags are leaking. Plus spring and fall the temps are to low for good performance.
I'm no lightweight either so the weight doesnt concern me. It was really just the guts of the guns G&G and CA from what I have read can some times be a little iffey. Finding mid caps or low caps seems to be difficult too! But the EBR is just such a hot looking weapon that I MUST have one!

Honestly if you get the max ebr, the only things you'll need to do is change in a metal tooth piston that's AOE corrected, even though the stock polycarb one is already corrected as it came short the first regular tooth, it was slightly worn after about 8-10k rounds, and a simple mosfet to preserve the trigger contacts. IMO even the shimming on my gun was pretty close, I ended up only having to add one to the spur gear and bevel I think just to reduce the slop, everything seemed to mesh and turn nicely. even the motor height from factory seemed well adjusted as I haven't even touched it. The max came with upgraded low resistance wiring, tightbore, cylinder head, piston and piston head. Not to mention shooting around 470 out of the box. Definitely needs a better piston if you keep it there for a dmr. I've made some pretty great shots with my socom.

If it's what you want, I wouldn't let the fact that the mags are a bit harder to get deter you, they can be found from a few sites in the states that are helpful with shipping usps if you contact them. All 4 of my g&g mags feed perfectly and the highcap as well, right down to maybe 5-10 BBs. The CA mags have a few issues with a brand of BBs I switched to, but they work nicely with bastards.

In all honesty, looking back, I probably should have gotten the ebr as well. :P
