Totaly new to airsoft need help choosing a gun.
Hey guys I am new to the whole Airsoft thing but I am looking at purchasing one for target shooting so just for fun. I am feeling kind of overwhelmed though at the number of guns. To day I went to the store Forest city surplus and just based on what I saw on the wall these are the ones that caught my eye
G@G M16 A3 MAX http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=464212 G@G M4 CQB-R MAX http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=464216 King ArmsĀ® Colt M4A1 http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=464354 The G@G looks like the better brand but looking on line it seems like king arms is better, can scopes and such be mounted to it? thanks Happy shooting |

Well, G&G guns are good, but like always, I'd suggest getting age verified, if you're 18, of course!
Now, if you're not, then most likely you won't play a lot of games, at least not on ASC! So, what do you intend to do with this gun, if it's just for plinkling outside, I wouldn't pay 500$ + ! But yeah, MAX guns are good, but keep in ind you'll have to change the spring, because they shoot way too hard, you'll have to change the spring, because you'll hurt people you're shooting at!

The MAX guns arn't the greatest. They shoot too hot for most fields which means you will have to downgrade the spring to be in the fields FPS limits. But you stated that it was for target shooting so then that wont matter.
King Arms AEG's come highly recomeneded from people on the forums. Do a quick search using the search bar at the top to find some reviews.

the max guns have a simple polycarb piston, with the hot spring in them, it's probably only a matter of time before it shreds the piston. Swapping the included spring back in brings it back down to safer levels for the internals, not just field limit.

The King Arms M4A1 is the best of the trio in my opinion. If you just want to shoot targets it's perfect. If you decide you want to play, it's a good starter airsoft that you can upgrade gradually.
A lot of players start with a G&G because they look good and you find them in every store. That CQBR is a good example of a great looking airsoft. The problem with G&G is their quality control. Almost all the players I know who started with a G&G payed to much for them and ended up putting a lot of money in them not to upgrade them but simply to repair them so that they would work and not be just an expensive decoration At least with the KA you still have 200$ to upgrade or repair and you still have to buy mags, bb, red dot, bb loader, charger if needed etc. No matter which one you chose, you need to change the spring right away! |

thanks guys. Can the king arms be upgraded with attachments like other brands interested in getting a scope.

If it uses rails they're actually all standardized and you can put any attachment you want on.
If it doesn't then get a rail system and put whatever you want on it.
