Tasco Reddot no good/ 3x Acog?

After reading reviews by other members on the forums I went to Canadian Tire and picked up the Tasco Reddot. People said it was sturdy and worked well for the price. I hooked it up and to be honest it doesn't really seem like a red DOT, more like a red smudge. I wonder if it's broken? Or just crappy. Anyways I'm gonna return it tomorrow and save up for a good scope. I want something that'll give me 3x or 4x zoom. Are there optical sights that provide that, and what would you guys suggest for around 100$ could be more or less, but nothing over 160$ I guess. I have an AK47 so also your opinions on what would look nice on it.

the dot.

The dot should be very precise. It's most likely your eyes that aren't very good. Red dot will look like a smudge if you're eyes aren't 20/20. Try putting on your friend's glasses(one that's around your degree of near sightedness)

They work if that is what you want to know. We sell lots of them where I work, no one has any complaints about them.
