Long Eye Relief scopes
Hey there.
Alright, so i'm looking to purchase a scope for my KJW 1022, and this one in particular caught my eye: Now, its not really the long eye releif i'm after right now, more or less the style of its appearance. (After a tubular, low magnification kind of dealie.) If i were to mount this thing up to the rear like you would a regular scope, would there be any distortion to the image? Or would it just be the same aside from the fact you can place it further down along the gun? Thanks. |

Well you can always see if it fits.
Take the measurements from the website and eye relief. Then setup a mock tube and see if you can place you face at the right distance. If you try to use a long relief scope too close, you basically will get a LOT of parallax and won't be able to center the reticule on the target. Long relief scopes are usually 12"+... and intended for use on a scout-style rifle (M14 Socom is the perfect example) |

Ah, ok. Damn, was hoping I could use it a bit more closely.
More scope hunting, woo. |

I use my 10/22 without a scope. I don't even use the sights.
And I get tons of kills. |

Oh I bet. I know the thing will be accurate, but I'd like to take advantage of that with a bit of magnification.
That being said, unless RATech releases a 'regular' 1022 barrel with the plain sights i'd stick with that, but until then i'd love to find a low power scope. The feild I play it most often has a lot of cover and having that magnification will really help me place my shots (And to be honest, I dispise AR sights.) The gun will be set into a regular 1022 wood stock overall. |

I have a Barska 1.25~4.5 X 26 Euro-30, and a Nikon 1-4 M223. They've got decent eye relief, about 4" each. The Nikon is definately nicer but it's also 3-4x the price of the Barska. For whatever reason the Barska's are near impossible to find in Canada.
This is the Nikon glass installed.

Do you know if there are clones available of the thing, or atleast something similar? I dont like cheaping out on things, but scopes are my exception (I've always had a fear of buying an expensive scope and have it shot out within a few games.) Thanks, i'll have to do some more looking around, or either man up and buy the thing. Edit: Just looked at the Barska just now. Its tempting... Last edited by Strelok; August 17th, 2011 at 20:34.. |

The Barska is like $85 US. I'd driving down to North Dakota.
