ABS Plastic repair
Have a piece of a gun that needs fixing. Part has almost completely broken off, and is a high stress point of the gun(Weight of the gun being put on this point). Looking to completely reinforce this stress point, yet have had limited luck finding a solution that would be permanent and reliable.
It is made out of ABS Plastic; there has to be something that will be able to grip onto two pieces of the stuff and make it indestructible... Just a matter of what. In advanced, thanks for the help! |

Super glue/crazy glue? It would probably melt the pieces together.
What is it exactly? |

For ABS, I use ABS solvent cement. It's the same stuff used for plumbing. It will chemical weld the parts together. Use primer first before the cement. Also, you can get Testors plastic cement from a hobby store. There is a liquid one and a gel one. It does the same thing as the plumbing cement.

I am pretty sure that ABS cement, instead of adhering two pieces together, melts the two pieces together.
Edit: HKGhost you beat me by one minute to that. |

I couldn't help but hear a slapchop infomercial sales pitch reading the first two sentances.
You can try Weldon 16. It's a solvent bonding adhesive with an acrylic based thickener. It's available at: http://www.plasticworld.ca I find it works better than most hobby styrene adhesives or plumbers goop.

Would also like to mention that crazy glue is not enough. It isn't holding up well. Last edited by Derpystronk; June 7th, 2011 at 00:47.. |

I use Zap a Gap .. like super glue on steriods, that actually works (I've never had a successful bond with superglue) ...
I started using it on my model boats (including race boat hulls) ... and recently started using it on airsoft body repairs/custom building ... so far works like a hot damn!
