KWA G36 Broken Piece - Front of the gearbox

Hey guys, one of my teammates has had an feeding issue on his KWA G36, it won't load BBs from any of his mags, and the mags work in other guns, so I decided to open it up and take a look.

There are no jams and the hopup seems fine, but when I pulled the gearbox out, this part was separated from everything else. I have an idea of what it is, but I'm not positive. Can anyone let me know exactly what it is? I need to order a new one, and hopefully that will fix the problem. The plastic part seems intact, but one of the brass tabs is totally broken off.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Its your cylinder head, it has shattered, quite common in the KWAs. You will need to replace it, I would probably upgrade to a better one by a company like Prometheus.

Ahh, that's what I figured it was, thanks a bunch!

Assuming nothing else internally is askew, it's a standalone part I can replace correct?

Yes, you can replace just the cylinder head, just make sure you lube the o-ring. As well, check the front of the tappet plate, it often breaks along with the cylinder head. There will be a vertical piece on the front of the tappet plate that fits with the nozzle, make sure it is solid and not cracked or broken.

Also, if it has an aluminum piston head, replace it with a polycarbonate one as the metal one will just break your replacement cylinder head.

Just a tip as i'm sure has been mentioned - KWA pistonheads are shit and prone to this - just buy a full metal and avoid it happening again and again lol - I've repaired 12 in the last 2 months - brand new guns

I think you meant "cylinderhead" Replacing the pistonhead with a metal one will only exacerbate the issue.
