Mag Issue? I think so...

Ive got a M4 mag from my ICS M4A1 and it has been working fine for the past many months. As of recently, The mag has started to act weird. Whenever I stick it into the gun (making sure it was wound fully) it just fires the first 1-2 shots and then dry fires. I checked and it wasnt jamming so my assumption is that there is something wrong with the internals of the mag. Does anyone have any other ideas of what it could be?

possible that your tape spring is broken or dirt is obstructing the bb path.

definitely try a new mag before operating on your current one.

watch your face, those springs like to whip out and some might be sharp enough to cut.

Lube it up a bit. The mag, I mean. No, the inside.

Lmao..It's not visible unless completely dissassembled...

A few steps to test if the spring is the problem or if it's something else.

Load the mag and fully wind it up, then locate the small button/pin that hold the BBs in the mag and slide it back (pointing the feeder in a safe direction) to allow the BBs to fly out.
Normally on functioning mags, this will release a bunch of BBs followed by the noise of the gears spinning wildly. If only a few bbs come out then there is a problem (Obviously) and parts may need to be replaced.

If you're familiar with the practice of dissassembling a mag you should already know what to do when you see it, if not, search for a local gundoc in your area via the "Calling all gundocs" sticky/thread.

A common problem with hicaps is the small halfgear seperating from the pin, and the spring breaking or tangling.

I cant give you advice or steps on "how to" perform the repair for liability reasons, but can offer my services.

Good Luck!
