Radio from HK and Canadian customs

Hi!
I was looking at this radio:

Is there any restriction with canadian customs about those radios? Or fees?
I mean for radios less than 5W.
This one is 4W.

I know it is only 1W radios but do we need absolutely more powerful than it?
It is my first radio, for my buddy too, and we just want to communicate on the fields easily and at reasonnable cost.
I am open to all advices, despite all threads I found, I can't decide myself.

You can't go wrong with a Motorola GMRS. Not to be confused with .5W FRS. GMRS should be 1W.

The problem with importing 4W radios, is that you need a liscence from the CRTC to use them. A large group order of 5W radios was seized in the past. But it's regularly imported without problems. You just run the risk of your order being seized. I think the risk is less than for AEG, but still present.

Also, people get problem sometime with powerfull radios because they are too close from each other and radios blast each other out of the air. For squad operation, 1W is perfect. For inter-Squad ops and base comm, 4-5W is ideal.

And, some cheap china made radios don't have the sensibility to get cleam comm. That mean that you will get interferance from other frequencies that are close. Ex: chanel 1: 450.5025MHz and chanel 2: 450.5050MHz would step on each other because the cheap china radio can't "separate" both frequencies.
I saw that a lot a few years ago with the wave of new china radios.

Thanks for your answer. I saw the thread about 5W seized radios. That s why I was not at ease with 4W power.
I was wondering if in a large majority of fields (indoor and outdoor) GMRS would be enough .
If yes I think I'll get some Motorolas!

Ever since I started playing, I tried many raidos. FRS, GMRS, CB, 4W programmable radios...

Off all them, I keep using my GMRS. I only have trouble when people are using FRS or random brands powerfull radios.

I don't get good comms only in places like in St-hyppolite when there's a lot of hills in the way and even some 4W radios don't cut trough.

question for you techseller. im currently looking for a radio and am interested in the puxing radios my question is do the radios have a jack for headsets throatmics ect? i have looked on numerous sites and no one makes mention of one thanks!

Yes Tony they do. They use the Kenwood type plug (2 pins).
