Pistol Primary Kit
Hey all, not sure if this has been done before... But what do you wear (kit wise) when using your pistols (or shotgun) as a primary?

Padded molle belt with a holster, a big accessory pouch, lots of pistol magazine pouches, flashlight and radio in a radio pouch and a dump pouch for empty magazines. I slide my knife between the molle straps behind a pistol magazine pouch. I just got two tornado grenades, so I will add a double M4 magazine pouch to carry them, probably on the back of the padded belt or on a drop leg panel.
Sometimes I carry more than one pistol and wear a drop leg holster or a shoulder holster in addition to the belt.

Belt with holdster and pouches to hold your mags.
Probably a taclight holdster too. For pistol only game, I just use that. I add some armor just because I need an extra difficulty/realism. For a milsim, I'd never go with just a pistol. Unless it's a police scenario.

basically i'm looking to put together a "video game" kit. mainly for CQB/indoor games where i don't need a whole rig, and will be using just my pistol or shotty.
i don't want to get a full molle kit. i was thinking something like soft armor and maybe a couple of mag puches on a belt. and a velcro shell holder. |

You might be dissapointed then. Video games caracters sometime have gear that does not make sense.

oh ya. i'm just saying i want to wear just whats needed. i'm obviously not going to be running aroung with an m4 and 500 rounds with no puches. but would like to be minimalistic......
... and look cool doing it! |

Pistol belt with mag pouches, You said so yourself. You probably could use a vest but I personally wouldn't.

Do not even consider wearing a vest. The lighter your kit, the more effective you can be with your pistol. The main advantage of running with a pistol only is speed and agility. You can pull off stuff that guys with assault rifles and their heavy load out will never be able to do.
Keep in mind you will be a bit out ranged (but not that much in CQB with a TM Glock) and you will definitely not have the ammo volume of guys running with mid caps, but if you use a bit of strategy, you can be at the right place at the right time most of the time. Being able to sprint for a while without getting tired and being able to move fast but silently is a BIG advantage in CQB, especially in indoor fields like old factories and schools where there is often many paths to get to the same spot. Consider doing recon too. A lot of people don't realize how useful it is in a CQB environment, and a light load out is perfect for this job.

i considered all of that.
as for the mags, i run real cap on my AEG, so ammo cap is not an issue for me. my main it is also designed to be completly silent, but is pretty heavy. the reason i wanted a SA vest is to be able to run a velcro on shell holder, for when i want to run my shotty. my biggest issue (i think) is going to be swaping out mags to let them warm up after a few bursts. it seems like my gun is cooling the mags pretty quickly. this may mean swapping mags often if need be. |
