CYMA Tommy Gun Mag Compatibility
Well, aren't I just full of compatibility questions lately!
This time, a teammate and I are about to obtain CYMA Tommy Guns; I'm getting an M1A1, and he's getting a Chicago Typewriter-style. The question, for all you CYMA Tommy Gun owners out there, is what brand of mags work best with these guns... I assume CYMA mags work, but what about TM? King Arms? Something else? I'd prefer metal over plastic, but I also want something mid-cap (100+ rounds), yet not high-cap (no mag tickling, please). My compatriot may be looking more along the lines of extra drum mags, and that may be interesting as well. Any help is appreciated!

The King Arms plastic 110rd mags feed fine. The fit was a little tight at first on my Thompson. But that went away after a few mag changes.
I know they are plastic but they do the trick. It's not too hard on the wallet to get new ones each season as opposed to the pricey TM 60 rd ones. |

So I take it that the CYMA is TM compatible? Because besides the magazine issue, I wonder if a wood kit made for the TM M1A1 would fit the CYMA version...
'Cause I'd rather have wooden grips and stock than plastic.

Yes the Cyma M1A1 is TM compatible.
Wood kits are compatible for both manufacturers. However, my understanding is that some wood kits are better than others (ima-usa > ebaybanned). The QC on these is lacking and some of them are dryer than a Wendy's baked potato. Generally the foregrip and the stock go on easily. My pistol grip needed some dremel work to fit properly. |

The CYMAs are TM compatible. Mags and wood kits.

Oh, I don't doubt they're solid. I have plastic M4 mags (can't remember the brand... Mag? Star?) tat I've smacked HARD with a hammer and they still work, they're just dinged. I was more concerned with the look.

I have a cyma M1A1, and I have all kinds of mags for it. From memory I have Cyma high and mid caps, TM high and mid caps, and the short TM high caps, as well as a drum mag. All of them fit and feed well, and I borrowed a KA plastic high cap once with no problems.

If authenticity matters, do not use a drum mag on the Thompson M1A1.

LOL, I know that, its just I got one super cheap to make up for a shipping error, so I thought why not. All I was saying is it does fit, unlike the RS ones.
