Question Second line kit and clutter?

I decided to move from my Blackhawk! RRV to a CIRAS rig and I'm looking at the second line kit gallery and a lot of the rigs look awsome but well... cluttered.

I'll list off what I have with pics to follow

My kit is
2 tri-shingles off center and low on the front
A Surplus camelbak zip tied on the back
A double M4 pouch on the back for comms or for some sharing mags
A dump pouch on the left hand side
A util pouch on the right for a loader extra bb's and a battery and maybe some munchies and a beer.

I'll post some pics in the morn.

I can't really think of anything else I would need for several hours of game play.

Now I am 2/3's chairsofter but hauling 25-30lbs of kit plus primary to be tacticool seems a bit pointless?

Or am I totally off base?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I think it is pointless.

I go through maybe 2 120rd mags in a game, and I don't like being too bulky. I carry 2 double stacked mag pouches, 2 pistol mag pouches, 1 water bottle pouch, 1 bladder pouch, and 1 general purpose pouch. Anything more would be too much for me.

Including guns, I often run ~40lbs of gear. In some situations, add an additionnal ~20lbs for an assault pack...
Some people I know always carry their real MICH and training SAPIs (same weight as real ones) plus 8 GBBR lowcaps (much heavier than AEG mags).

So... it doesn't look that bad to me. This setup seems to make sense.

Close to real world load outs is a personal thing. Even at a "Milsim" game you will folks that are running light. Do what makes sense for you.

One option is to have a paneled load out or two rigs. I have a recce rig that doesn't have hard or soft armor, and a plate carrier that takes 8 AK mags for patrol work.

If that's all you need for a game, why would you move to a CIRAS? An RRV will hold all that stuff and make it much lighter.

my vest alone weighs over thirty and will be heavier soon when I get enough GBBR mags to fill the mag pouches. I carry the following when gaming:

2 liter water bladder
will be 7 gbbr mags
2 gbb pistol mags
a snack or extra bb's and a loader or both
tornado
comms
a panel pouch that is mounted on mywater bladder to carry map/co2 cartridges/tools/ depending on the game
soon to be full metal WE GBBR
side arm and serpa leg holster
protech helmet

so all in all getting very close to the 50 - 60 lb mark

why? I love the punishment, i love the exercise that I get from it (running around for 4 - 5 hours). But again it all comes down to your personal preference.. My vest is by no means cluttered i have everything where i need it and its nice and quick for me. And I can still sprint in that extra weight to and for a good time/distance just ask any of the guys i play with lol

My vest would be what you'd call cluttered. However I use everything. I run 5 real cap mags followed up by mid caps to fill out the pouches just in case.
Got 5 double M4 pouches on my front and left side,
a C9 box pouch over my left kidney (used for grenades or when empty, empty mags i pull out my dump, weight distribution thing),
radio pouch front right beside the mag pouches,
first aid pouch over right kidney
and hydration recon pack on my back,
I saved an empty spot on my right side to mag drawing my sidearm easier (belt holster)
and have 2 pistol mag pouches and a dump on my belt.
Total weight is around 30-40 pounds filled out and I've used everything in game (aside from the med kick luckily)

It's all personal preference, for skirmishes, I empty my hydration recon pack to lighten the load but that is all i change. I also weight only 140 pounds soaking wet so some may be shocked by how much i carry without slowing down (one of the few guys still running near the end of the games)

Though....... my shoulders start hurting after 4+ hours.... just need padding for that on my vest.

Heeeers my rig, my other rig was OD so some residual pouches are still green but it works. I really should get a med kit as well.

I've only got a primary at this point but i switched to a ciras for Coverage, getting shot in the back without padding sucks.

That doesn't look too cluttered to me. I run a plate carrier with 5 double M4 pouches, a radio pouch, Camelback, and a pistol holster. Then on a blast belt I'll have 3 pistol mags, a multi tool, dump pouch, first aid kit, and a utility pouch. The Blast belt is pretty well full but there is open real estate on the plate carrier if I ever needed to carry more.

Try not to get shot in the back running away?

i try to thin my vest out every year asmpouches seem to find theyre way on there lol. but i usually run
eagle plate w/ cumber bund
map pack (shemag, cumrag, bladder, spare bolles and ess glasses case)
6 shingles (ptw mags)
quad pistol pouch (three pistol mags, and utility knife)
triple 203 pouch (dead rag, spotting scope, flashlight)

blast belt
dump pouch (rolly)
grenade pouch (rolly)
utility pouch (bag of bbs)

drop leg
4 203 pouches (spare pouches for above gear if i need to rearrange depending on game paramiters)

im not sure on the weight, i should check tho, im curious. but ya, i take it most off but then find i dont have room for the stuff i use and pouches make theyre way back on as th year progresses and i attend different games

It's not running away... it's consolidating forces! ;-)
