TM hi capa slide catch problem

I have a new TM hi capa that is 100% stock fired less than 500rnds. The part of the slide where the slide catch, catches has worn down very quickly, to the point where the slide only sometimes locks back when the mag is empty and when it does, it only catches the very edge of the slide. What i am asking is:

1. Is this normal for TM? (although there are countless posts on the reliability of tm)
2. For a strictly gaming pistol, would it be wiser to replace it with a metal slide or just another plastic one?

Here are some pics to show you guys what i mean. Also the force of putting in another magazine releases the slide (kind of useful?)

+ you should buy a metal outer barrel aswell :P

Or else the metal slide will destroy the plastic outer barrel...

You're gaming it, it would cause alot of use. Already your're slide had worned out the catch. Might as well upgrade to metal outer and metal slide, change recoil spring and you're good to go. using a plastic one would crack sooner or later with use of propane.

Metal sounds and feels better too. Invest.

Are the only things that i will need to upgrade to metal would be the recoil and hammer spring, metal outer barrel and the slide itself? Im a little angry because i JUST got it and used it minimally (like i said less than 500rnds at one game). Also yes i am using propane, smelly smelly propane.

It's normal. I've learned to avoid using the slide stop in order to return the slide to battery - I now "sling-shot" rack the slide when reloading from an empty mag.

Get a metal slide, they sound and feel so much more nice, lol

Don't need to change the hammer spring. Don't even need to change the recoil spring but it's crisper (will work more reliably in colder weather with a stock/weaker recoil spring though)

Alright, time to start emptying whats left of my wallet on upgrades.

Also another question. Does getting a slide with trades add a whole bunch to the resale value of the gun? Would having a blank slide make it seem cheap?

Neither, and both. Depends who you're selling it to.

Why would you be concerned about customizing it to who you'd sell it to (if you even ever did). That seems silly. Do whatever YOU want and what YOU like.

Never had that happen on my hi-capa odd.. You can buy a new plastic slide on Ehobby for like $8 though if you're desperate.
