I just received the OtterBox defender case for the iPhone which I can heartily recommend for the battlefield. It is a polycarbonate hard case with a thick silicon overlay that provides shock and liquids protection, but still allows access your ports. It has a clear thermal membrane which protects the screen and also covers the camera port and a porthole on the back to show off the Apple logo.

That's wonderful, I've had one for about 7 months now, I love it, don't plan to replace it, but if you're sweating it seems to LOVE to get moisture inside under the screen and case, not a good thing. Leave the phones in your cars people, it's better not to risk busting an expensive phone :P

Did you try the glass cleaner trick to avoid the moisture and air bubbles?

Thats great, now your phone will be ready for when you get out to a game.

Although I doubt the less then a millimeter thick Silicone protector will do much against a bb strike. Make sure you put it in your pocket facing inwards.

I'm going to put it in my tac vest pocket with the polycarbonate facing outwards and in front of my pocket HD cam to protect it as well.

Great case. Oakley makes something similar, except it does not have the screen cover and it's frikkin' $85

You wana put it in your vest, screen out, that's your call but I can see a good chace of you not having a working Iphone for too much longer.

Why bring your cell, iPhone or otherwise, out to the field?

Don't get me wrong I've got an Otterbox casing for my BB and think it's pretty tits. Just saying.

I have the Commuter Otterbox and it's more than enough. I like not worrying about drops and just being able to jam it in my pocket or bag without worrying about scratches.

Because if you play against people like Army Issue or Zeonprime, you can call their cell phone to ID their location to shoot them!

The polycarbonate would be facing outwards, not the screen side and I will affix a small layer of foam to my tac vest pocket. I doubt a BB can penetrate cordura + foam + silcon rubber + polycarbonate

Some other possible reasons to bring your phone besides compass and maps are to communicate on the headset with teammates, snap pictures. And for those of us who live in Vancouver we don't even leave an empty pop can in our cars here, let alone $699 phones

Batteries die. Real compasses and maps work wonderfully and don't cost $699 (though my iphone was only $200) Even though it's protected I'd hate to drop in in a swamp or creek and test that case lol.

FRS/GMRS radios also work great for comms. Cheaper and don't rely on cell towers to communicate.

Regardless, leaving it in the car is not an option and you would need one hell of a long game to drain 100% charged phone. I only paid $76 for my iPhone 3GS, but replacement value is $699
