MP5 Midcaps: Star vs. KA vs. Mag vs. ??

Well, I have decided to buy a whole mess of midcaps for my MP5.

I have heard fairly good things about all these brands. I am leaning towards STAR, as i don't really care about metal mags, and they are crazy cheap.

ehobby sells 10x STAR 95 rounders for $30, Thats hard to beat.

Anyone have any experience they are willing to chip in? Is there anything I am missing? Anything i should be aware of with STAR (or any other brand) mags?

Brand of the MP5 is Tokyo Marui

Thanks guys,

My MAG mags worked well enough, no feed problems. Though the one metal mag I had made me wish they were all metal.

I like the Marui metal mags myself, but if you don't care then Star or KA is good.

I have both, I prefer KA. They have some trades and a better texture to the plastic. As for Mag brand, I believe they just have a contract with Star for branding of Star mags.

Yea, In a perfect world, I would buy Marui, But at $20+ a mag, Buying 10-15 midcaps suddenly turned into the price of a new pistol

I bought MAG mp5 mags too. it wasnt too bad except it was plastic. If you don't care about that, then they are definitely a good value for money. I actually sold my 10 mags and i haven't heard anything bad about them so far. its been months since i sold them. I currently use Star mags but they are 30 rounds. I wanted more realism in terms of rounds. The Star mags have been great too. So it really doesn't matter what you get in my opinion. To me both brands have the same quality.

Hmm I'll consider that for sure, Thing is, I mainly use this gun as a back-up for when my M4 is down, or as a rental/loaner.

That means buying CA gives me the same problems as buying TM, Great in theory, but not really financially practical for me, as I won't really be playing with it enough to justify it IMO.

Regardless, Thanks for your help guys, keep it coming!

iv'e got the old star 10 pack of midcaps. I'm sure the new revolution 10pack (or whatever they call it) is exactly the same thing.

For fittmenton both of my tm mp5s i've had to file/sand some of the plactic so the mag catch would "click". otherwise i'd have to push/slap in hard to engage the catch.

Feeding, on the other hand has been flawless so far. Aprox. 1K through each mag. The mags are very consistant and reliable.

I recently got the KA 5 pack on Airsoftparts.com strictly because I wanted new magazines but I need to save for school.

Even though they're plastic they feel really solid and they feed without issue. I recently had the chance to go through all 5 at a game and didn't have a single problem with one. If money is an issue and you don't care about metal, I'd recommend the KA ones. I'm pretty happy with them.

I have the metal anodized G&P one for display and general playing but a pack of 5 KA plastic ones for games where I need the extra ammo.
