WA 1911 hammer won't lock all the time??? SOLVED!!!

Hi everyone,

I had the bad idea to field strip my perfectly working gbb. It was dirty and weaker than before. After lubrification and reassembly, surprise!!! The hammer can't lock back into firing position all the time. When i cock the gun very slowly it works, but when i release the slide normaly, the shock is to strong and the hammer does not stay into firing position.

Yes i know, i maybe went to far in the dissasembly process. I took the handle out, the safety mech also. I bet my problem is some fine tuning, maybe a weak spring or pin or over lubrification. Anyone have an idea what my gbb problem really is? Please help!

You either didn't put the leaf spring
back in the right way, or you broke
something. The leaf spring is the
3 prong flat plate that rests it's
fingers on the sear/trigger bar and
one sticks out to contact the grip
safety. The prongs can slide under
the parts if your not careful putting
the gun back together.

Older models have weak stock
hammer springs. They can fire hard
for a short period of time, and then
they compress almost instantly.

Take out the mainspring housing,
via the pin at the bottom of the
grip, lift up the grip safety/tail
and reposition the leaf spring so
it sits on top of all the parts, also
make sure your trigger bar is
behind the sear/disconnector
and not slipped in front.

SOLVED!!!

It was a mix of 2 problems.

First: my midle leaf spring (in the handle) was between the 2 pieces of the firing mech. It needs to be on top of them (towards the rear of the gun, not towards the trigger).

Second: the trigger screw (tiny little screw on the trigger) was too much screwed in. I unscrewed it a bit and now the trigger goes back far enough to fire the gun.

Needless to say, i did cut my finger real bad while opening the leaf spring compartment. Now i can fire my perfect working baby, with a painfull trigger finger!!!

Just remember the lesson i learned today: ''If its not broken, DON'T FIX IT!!!''
