Just started getting into airsoft.

Hi everyone, I'm quite new here. I have skimmed through the stickies and stuff too. Now I have three questions:

1. Airsoft games - Do they mainly consist of using AEGs or can you use anything you want to? I personally favour using GBB pistols instead of AEGs.

2. Canadian Airsoft retailers - Any good retailers other than 007airsoft? 007airsoft has stopped selling almost all their listed guns to "Civilians" and their prices are very high. (By the way, I don't like the clear idea, even if its partially clear.)

3. Googles and facemasks - Do most people use full face masks or just googles? Is face shots forbidden?

If everyone could answer the questions separated by 1. 2. 3. that would be great. Any input is also appreciated, thanks in advance!

1.) Use Any Airsoft gun thats AEG, Spring or GBB I know people who play with just a pistol..
2.) Shop the classifieds for CA, TM guns..
3.) Pick your poison me personally I wear goggles and a shemagh to protect my lower face like teeth. But full face alot of people dont wear it affects when you shoulder your weapon and your mask gets in the way.

AEG's are definitely more favorable. Gas guns run our of juice way faster and are more temperamental with temperature fluctuations

Yes. Read the FAQ section on Age Verification (and all the other FAQ's) and get verified. Once AV'd an entire world opens for you here.

Both. Head shots are typically frowned upon, but if that's the only target you offer...

Seriously, some people where masks, most wear goggles. As long as they are ballistically or paintball rated, then what you wear is between you and the game admin/field owner.

1) Anything you want really from Springers (some people play with the spring tri shot shotgun in CQB fields), to AEG's, to GBB's (I actually played a night game this way and it was awesome), to GBBR's. I mean in Paintball you're still allowed to go into a speedball tournament if you come with a Stock Class marker (AFAIK)

2) You're AV'ed, AV retailers and Classifieds are where you should be looking. Shao Armoury, Knights Classics, Cool Guy Airsoft, etc.

3) Depends on field rules however what I use is a Sykes face mask with paintball goggles or ballistics. Some fields may require full paintball mask, some paintball goggles at a minimum and some private fields will allow sealed ballistics or ballistic glasses.

Looks like the "switch" was just flicked. Scroll down on the main page to the Classifieds and go hard.

for paintball masks, there are many soft ones that are also low profile that let me use my weapon (save for the iron sights, which is just too much of a pain) via scope or RDS. Here are some i recommend and all of which are paintball rated and can be used anywhere:

V-Force Grill
Empire Events
Dye i4 Pro

Is riot helmets allowed? (The helmets with the visor in front). If they are allowed has anyone tried using one? How was it?

No, they would not be allowed, as they are not sealed around the eyes.

I suppose if you wore goggles under your riot helmet it would be allowed. But that basically destroys the purpose of the shield in front of your face.

if you sweat a lot , get ballistic goggles (the bicycle ones works too if they are ballistic super resistance). If not, you can get a good pair of goggle X800 for like 20-30$.

The only opening a riot helmet has is I think just the bottom part. But I guess that's still not enough. How about gas masks? They cover the whole face.

No that won't work, they usually don't have ballistic or paintball rated lenses.
