I do believe the real deal Magpul one is on the no fly list. A few got out of the USA early but then the door slammed shut.

ya man, it was $100 on ebay. Maybe it's on the no fly list, that could be why as to the high price.
I just bought a privately made replica from Cleric over here for an awfully awesome price(oxymoron?). I'll see how that performs Last edited by Skladfin; September 14th, 2009 at 14:46.. |

Yeah, I'd like to see the source that says slings are ITAR restricted.

My bad, it's the ASP plate that can't get out. Still it sure sounds like the slings are tacitly restricted.

Cobratactical.com carries them but I dont know if they ship to Canada. I dropped by at their store three weeks ago but they were close.

That idea is like wondering why airsoft guns aren't allowed in to the country... it's just a compilation of metal, plastic, grease and rubber.

The sling is not ITAR restricted, Magpul is very good about listing everything that DoS decides to be pissy about.
I'd suggest buying the real thing, through Magpul, just to have the better durability and other reasons. Many people don't like the gate catch on the primary retention point. The secondary aligator clip is off of a dog leash. The webbing is not full loadbearing webbing (as in the Riggers sense), but is edging for where there could be abrasion against a parachute. Basically, Travis was designing this back when he was SDT, and this is the best he could get with what existed. Because it's kludged together from so many different items that have many 'civvie' solutions, you have a many options when you're replicating them. You -may- get something that is basically as good as the original, but you are much more likely to get something that won't work as well. That aligator clip still pisses Magpul Dynamics off, they are actively looking for something better, so there will be a 2nd version of this sling ""sometime"". Oborous |

Also got mine today, unfortunately I'm still waiting for my sling swivels. If you have any question on these, need specific pics, etc feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to answer them.
BTW awesome service from Airsoftpark, and I was surprised the shipping time was about a week.
