You need to illustrate a commitment to the activity going in. Taking the time to research and purchase appropriate equipment goes a long way to that end with respect to first impressions. Show up in PB gear... and that speaks volumes. but .. yes gear does not make the man..

I'm not under age, just because I don't agree with your Nazi ASC rules and haven't bothered with "verification"(even thou the verification rep for our area plays at the field), You don't know me. I show up wearing my paintball pants, paintball cleats, wearing my paintball gloves and my paintball goggle system.
Uh and I was the one in the Niagara Region that went to my friend that owns DMZ paintball field and got him to change their opinion about Airsoft and allow Airsoft to be played on the field at all. I think that pretty much speaks volumes; DMZ paintball every Monday night 5 til done, $10 per head, bring your own bb's, paintball goggles required. Other than that gear is your choice. We skirmish, and have a blast on the 6 different playing fields. Last edited by Malice Army; August 21st, 2009 at 18:28.. |

So if you don't like our "Nazi ASC Rules" then why are you here?

Malice Army, make your point without throwing accusations of Nazism around.
And Brian is right. This kid is making an initial investment in load bearing gear for airsoft. There's no reason for him to go out of his way to get paintball gear, when he could invest in more appropriate gear for airsoft. There is a certain aesthetic expectation associated with airsoft, some paintball gear fit in, some do not. All else being equal, there is no reason to get into airsoft by buying new gear that does not fit with the general realistic look of airsoft. It's not a rule, but people should ask themselves why they feel the need to spend money to intentionally look like a lost paintballer.

Don't cheap out on a vest. Trust me. You will NEVER regret spending the $150-$200 on a proper vest. You WILL regret cheaping out on one. Guaranteed. A proper vest IMO is more essential to enjoying a game than the gun. An awesome gun won't do you shit if you're uncomfortable as hell and can't carry anything.

It's your right not to agree with the opinion and practises of 90% of the airsoft community in Canada. Just like it's the right of 90% of the airsoft community in Canada to express our opinion. You don't like it? Fine. Don't play at our games. We won't play at yours. But don't go calling us fucking nazis when we try to actually maintain a level of standards in airsoft. This isn't fucking paintball.

Hey, I'm not the one who referred to other people as Nazis because we like to have some standards in our games.

precisely, Kalnaren has it right
and to Malice Army, no one is telling you how to dress and act, you want to wear that stuff it's your prerogative, you could also wear ladies undergarments and no one is going to tell you not to, but its's also their prerogative to laugh their asses off when they see on the field with your kleats etc. That shit might fly at your buddy's field but not at any real airsoft game

Enough of this crap.
Its understandable that alot of entry levels airsofters initially do not have the funds to invest full tilt into something right off the bat. Usually everyone is fairly understandable too, like really you just started a hobby and dont want to go balls deep without even knowing if you like it or not. However a certain level of commitment is required in my opinion, if you cant be bothered to take that extra step and set yourself up with something that goes along with the hobby than maybe you shouldn't be attempting to commit yourself to that hobby. If you find a paintball pod belt suitable to your needs than fine, so be it. Purchase it and use it happily The airsofting community is a tight knit community and while everyone is fairly mature and respectable, everyone is also judging your actions, and while are totally relaxed and may not care what you wear, others would be disappointed to see such a low level of commitment. They would never openly mock you, but it certainly would take a little longer before anyone took you seriously.
