Tanaka M870 18inch

I'm interested in buying a Tanaka M870 gas shotgun.

From my research, I have gathered that the Tanaka M870 gas series is the most realistic feeling/looking of the 870 series.

Now the downsides, from what I've read, are that it's not as reliable as its competition namely the Maruzen 870 series.

But all those negative reviews of the Tanaka are from a few years ago when it was first released, I'm curious if the newer versions have improved reliability?

Should I go for it? Or should I get the Maruzen 870 instead even though it's not as realistic feeling?

Thanks

The internals are pot metal, with the new development of the Madbull Shotgun shells it'd be cheaper to buy a real steel remington 870, you can one hand rack the tanaka but I wouldn't recommend it. Plus the casing for the shells isn't very strong if you drop them too often they don't work too great.

So they are design to work in real steel? Hope no one will mistake rounds and use real slugs at games!

Personally, if I found out I was at a game where someone brought a RS shotgun and intended to use it at a game, airsoft shells or not, and the host allowed the person to use it I would walk off the game right then and there. Do I want to be looking down the barrel of a RS? No thank you ma'am. Regardless of how carefull the owner can be, shit happens and I just wouldn't feel comfortable.

I own a tanaka 870 14", Its a great gun for plinking or for indoor use with a shell catcher. I wouldnt recommend using it out in the field as the fps is low stock and the shells are a pain in the butt to find if you dont have a catchers. the Maruzen 870 is nice cause it doesnt have shells to lose. Ive put over a 2000 rounds though my tanaka and is still fires nice.

Is your Tanaka the gas version? Can it take green reliably?

Man, your the first person I've met online who has had a good experience with the Tanaka shotties.

Nearly every review I've read has been poor on the reliability section.

Have you seen the FPS on those things? I'm not sure if they'll work with other gasses.. but with propane those things were firing over 800 FPS!!

I hate the thought of a real-steel gun on the field... let alone one firing above 400 FPS with multiple projectiles!!

Hopefully folks mentioning using a real steel shotgun in an airsoft match are joking; pointing a firearm (loaded or not) at a person is a Criminal Code offense. As in jail time.

Why can't being an asshat and not doing research be an infraction worthy offence?

Your post even makes Jesus facepalm
