ITAR is a set of US Department of State regs that restrict the exportation of certain firearms parts. CBSA couldn't care less about ranger plates; but the US DOS does.

It cost me 20$ for an arpat triple mag pouch, a secret amount for the 3 KA mags, and 20$ to put magpuls on those 3 mags.
And that was buying them in the 5 packs from an ebay retailer while it was still 100% okay to get them across the border, apparently theres some issues with the ranger plates being exported now? Any confirmation on that? |

Internation traffic in arms regulations = ITAR It includes any technologies that can be used in weapon systems, satellite, telecom etc. ITAR delayed and added costs to the Boeing dreamliner from being available for sale (because some of the auto pilot code came from Stealth bombers) to the point that the Airbus was able to finish and test their product and have it available for sale years ahead. ITAR has effectively killed the US civilian Satellite launch, and satellite industry. Magpul had to make a different pmag (emag) for export. I agree that a lot of this stuff shouldnt be restricted like ASAP plates etc but not my country, not my rules, and I can't really do anything about it. And in the states it's not a joke http://www.ice.gov/pi/nr/0811/081107seattle.htm |

Yes, firearms parts exports are one of the things that fall under ITAR. Training falls under it as well, apparently. Just try signing up for a Pat Rogers class.
