Metal Hopup issues

So I've been having some strange issues when it comes to, or seems to be, metal hopups.

I have a G&P M16 metal hopup for my m4 which has been upgraded heavily. Along with that, I have also replaced my plastic air nozzle with a deepfire air nozzle. I have also held onto the original plastic hopup and air nozzle.

So the problem is, when I swap out the hopup for the metal one, with a new rubber I instantly was having feeding issues, double feeds, and jams. Ok, so the first thing I thought was, ok maybe the hopup rubber is pooched or somehow slipped off or twisted inside. Nope, rubber is on correctly, in the groove and fully seated on the barrel. When I take that hopup unit out and replace it with my plastic one using the same hopup rubber, it works great!

I've also double and triple checked how I put the metal hopup together and it looks correctly done to me. I have two of these G&P metal units and have experienced the same problem.

Wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me and maybe drop me a hint or two.

What kind of mags are you using ? Those metal hop up turn to have problem with King Arms mag since feed lip on KA mags is a little bit longer so you might want to trim down a little. There is thread show how to do it but I just can't find it, maybe a guy who make it can show the illustration.

You need to shave off some of the material from the BB retainer in the mags. The new hopup unit must be slightly shorter in length towards the mag.

Ok I will give that a try with one mag and see if that helps. Appreciate the tips.

Pilotguy, Ive been having the same problem with metal hopup units, mainly double feeding, I too use the 85 rnds mids from Star.

Fix: shave of the lip just a very very very little bit .6mm or so.

also make sure ur hopup isnt too dry, or the hop isnt set too high.

cheers
