If it pleases the CBSA officers to have covered trades and orange tips, than so be it. There is nothing stopping you from reversing it when you get home.

And you're not?

Did you show the back of the card to the customs officers?

From information I have gathered from a Metis, there is a difference in privileges between a status and a metis card. I don't know what exactly, but IIRC, metis could not get a tax discounts.

Some trademarks are illegal in the US and some are fine. Those airsoft manufacturers that license the trademarks (like CA does with Armalite) are legal. Those airsoft makers that do not pay royalties (like TM's with Colt trademarks) are in violation of copyright law and are illegal.

Just a FYI for everyone.
To cover trades use black putty like Uncompany.com does. Then simply take it off when needed. The constituency of it is like that stuff you use to isolate windows, except when you take it off, it simply comes off as a 'strip'. You can buy that stuff at modeling/art stores in a couple different colors (if you gun is black, you will need the black kind). |

the card allows you to cross the boarder unrestricted... it does not allow you to break import laws...

Warchild - do you want to give us all a debrief on your cross border experience. I understand you were able to bring your shipment in and did hook a lot of players up with new gear at the Boarder Wars game. I got some panicy PMs in the middle of the night from some people and it would be helpful if you cleared the air on what really happened because there is a lot of speculation floating around without any facts really being discussed. Since you're the center of it, best for you to address it.
Thanks |

I would like to add that anyone who was there, or heard any "rumors" please just lets keep the speculation down, we lost some players on account of this last night, the many of us took the time to talk to Warchild personaly and hear the full story. Lets give that chance again, just wait untill it is all said and done by the people who know whats what.
Thanks.

He said they would permit airsoft guns into Canada if the following conditions were met:
1) must shoot under 500 FPS. 2) must have a plastic body 3) must not have any trademarks that match a manufacturer of real firearms 4) must be able to demonstrate that the magazine could not be capable of being used to load real ammunition 5) must have a orange muzzle tip 6) must be declared at the border and a 15% duty paid 7) must be transported in the trunk of the vehicle He also indicated, indirectly, that the attitude, appearance and "air of responsibility" of the person crossing the border would play a factor. Has anyone tried this one yet? Was this laid down by a senior customs officer so that it could stand up if they choose to use this definition that is and not just some rookie who doesn't know the full laws? If this is all you have to do that isn't too much to ask. And like was said earlier you can do whatever to it once it's over the boarder, though having trademarks isn't really a big issue to me.

Thats not what I am talking about Rukus. Warchild ran into some snags when he came over this weekend and I wanted him to tell us what they were so others don't repeat the same steps that lead to his problems. There were people who left the field we were at under the impression that the RCMP was going to come a seize their guns (?!?!). It was alarming enough to them that they left because of it. I want Warchild to tell his story to clear the air so we all know what took place.

I will see if my family has more details if you like. deep I might add that I am Métis and even carry my Métis card. At the border I was informed that even if I am a registered Métis person, I have ZERO rights other than being a Canadian citizen, you must be a full legal registered blood-line Indian to have exemptions, even though it says on the back of my card that I have the right to cross the 49th parallel unrestricted.[/QUOTE]

There's been lots of speculation on ASC (from those not privy to it in person), as to what exactly happened to Warchild7 at the border.
Perhaps we should get the details on this issue staright from him. He started this thread and this is his issue to deal with, as far as I'm concerned.

Personally i think there is no reason to, its over and done with no need to drag it out any further, no good will come of it, all it would do is get everyone mad at one another. it was unfortunate what happened but its over and all was taken care of, so i say let it be. thats my 2 cents anyways |
