Did you guys try a rubber cement. I used to use it years ago to glue the spider and surround to speaker frames during re-coning of speakers. It would bond rubber and fabric to steel or aluminum and would hold up for years with all the motion a speaker cone goes through. You used to be able to buy it at Crappy Tire, but this was years ago and if I remember it was made by Lepage's. Sorry to get off-topic here.

That's why I put the zipties on. Tape would do fine too, but I wanted to preserve the look as much as possible. Contac glue in spray is awsome for gluing spiders. But leave a mess to clean up after!

Ok, I didnt want to start a new topic but I have been looking into getting a CA M24. I have already talked to FOX about it but I want to get some more opinions. I have searched many old, old topics on the forum and heard many different things about it. Apparently it is crap out of the box? I know the people that own a M24 on this thread seem to enjoy it. Please, any advice/info on the gun bone stock and upgraded would be greatly appriciated! Thanks. (Sorry if I'm asking to spoonfeed the answers to me but I would like some personal oppionions rather than 2-3 year old threads)
P.S. I have read the whole thread |

I'm here. I can't comment on the stock CA M24, only the upgraded one since I got mine well worn out and upgraded by the FIRST owner (yes, I bought it 3rd hand). Once you get it all configured and tuned, as well as certain design flaws fixed (such as the screw threads stripping out of the pot metal, and the flawed and counter productive safety) it's a pretty decent gun. Just have to spend the money and time on it. Besides, at ~16lbs, she ain't no featherweight! M24 and M700, target left is shots from my M700, target right shots from my M24, 90ft indoors, 0.29g SGM ammo. |

So the question everyone has been dying to ask, is about that kjw ruger that sells for a rediclously low price and follows the format of those higher end gas snipers...are they remotly well made? How would it compair to a stock TM sniper....
Lastly would somone be able to scale out how spring snipers compair to gas. (accuracy wise, since gas are clearly higher maitnance than spring?) |

First off the barrel is a typical stock barrel so consistency between shots is lacking there. Second the gun is a NBB so even on duster with the stock barrel the gun will shoot in excess of 450FPS. On propane...watch out. Of course this is a gas gun so FPS can vary wildly from shot to shot. Couple the above with a very basic hop up and you begin to see that the gun is not well suited to be used as a sniper rifle as consistency is the name of the game when considering those. I suppose that it's OK as a beginner rifle, provided you can get the FPS down. They are fairly solidly made so you do get what you pay for but you could also pay around double the amount and get yourself an HFC USR-11 which would shoot considerably better and have a much more consistent FPS. Spring vs. Gas snipers...keep in mind all of my gas sniper experience has been with cheaper rifles like the KJW Mk.1 and KJW M700 but gas guns do suffer from one problem regardless of make or model: Gas pressure is very rarely consistent from shot to shot making it harder upon the sniper to make every shot count. (Something like a Marushin Kar 98 with a regulator being an exception) On the other hand spring guns, if properly maintained, should not suffer from an FPS inconsistency since all that controls the FPS output is the spring itself (which provides consistent pressure) and the friction of the piston moving in the cylinder (which is where maintenance comes in for consistency) As far as the PSG-1 goes, I don't find it to be consistent enough to be used as a sniper rifle in stock form. Both it and the M-14 are more the DM-type rifle to my eyes. |
