For the most part it doesn't matter, bb's arrive in country in rice sacks and are dolled out in personalised packaging. Nothing "revolutionary" about the product or procedure. Anyone can contact spartan imports with a buisness licence and set up to be a wholesaler of excel bb's...and you can get them in bulk packs, and stuff them into ziplocks and call them whatever you want.

Cost is a factor of supply and demand.

It's funny how the Metal-Tech BBs seem to be getting a bad rap lately.

I bought over 2 cases of them back in early 2007, and those sat at the retailer since perhaps late-2005 or 2006 at the latest. They were the only BBs out of 2-3 others that would feed and perform flawlessly in the PTWs. Madbull (economy ones) chopped like crazy, KSC Perfect were terrible, Excel were terrible.

I did not try anything made after that, as I had over 100K rounds and still had about 25K left when I moved to the Madbull IPSC 0.30g.

This goes to show that even different batches, perhaps soruced differently or using a different process can have dramatic differences. If you find a BB you like, buy a case of them, if you buy a bag or 2 at a time, be prepared to deal with issues due to batch/tolerance differences on an ongoing basis.

How do you test wether or not you like the "batch" of BB's without buying one or two bags? Or are you referring to different brands

He means, if you buy a bag or 2 and like it, then go and immediately buy a whole case of it.

In regards to consistency - BB Bastard brand BB products are often offered because they are a predictably performing product. Much like how Coke always tastes like Coke and Pepsi tastes like Pepsi, BB Bastard has its own custom manufacturing to specifications unique to our brand. We don't ricebag product and we don't have multiple suppliers, so our product is consistent and predictable, which is what an airsofter wants. Consistency of product is critical to both the novice player and the multiyear vets. AEGs and AEPs and PTWs are often tuned to precise tolerances and because the BB Bastard BB is the same from batch to batch and bag to bag, matching your airsoft gun to your ammunition when that ammunition is the same in weight, diameter, polish, density and balance, repeated optimal and consistent performance is assured.

So, with BB Bastard you don't have to worry about inconsistency between batches.

i dont think i have been as happy with any other ammo as much as i have been with bastards! metal tech BBs where meant for use in a stock barrel as they are slightly larger than 6mm. as soon as you try to use a MT with a tight bore, your going to get issues. MT are awesome for what they are designed to do, which is get better accuracy out of a wider barrel. BBbastards are just great all around! never had a jamming issue, and they are all very consistent. i have a brain sitting on my table atm, its about 60% of the bb, but i will not give it away, its far to cool. one brain out of 2 seasons worth of bbs = quality!

Black Python in my daily driver and it eats nothing but MTs.

Anyone save some of the ones from Claybank that caused all the headaches? I'll test some and see if they feed.

It's too bad that the people @ Metal Tech have such great customer service and are very polite and easy to talk to they saved the day for me... But their product isn't very good
I just wanted to defend them....just so people can hear both sides of people's experience.

I've used almost exclusively metal tech BB's, and have gone through maybe 50,000 to 100,000. I have had one jam in this time, which may or may not have been metaltech's fault. (probably was a deformed BB)

I love Metal Tech BBs.

Yeah I've found the opinions on MT BBs to be pretty polarized.

When they work, they work like a dream and people love them.
When they don't, they generally don't work at all, and just get crazy jamming issues.

So, I might give them a try, just to see, because if I luck out and they work well on mine, then there you go.

However, I do find that for myself, BB Bastards have been the most consistent BBs. They are always the exact same and the quality is outstanding. I have no personal experience with MT so I can't comment.

used MT in 6.01 PDIs before, no issues.

no issues with prom 6.03 or madbull6.03 either. Tightbore does not affect jamming.

I used Metal Tech as the first bb's for my PTW. Worked perfectly for the 3 bags. Bought 2 more bags, it was a nightmare.

Switch to BB Bastards, never had a single problem.

Now using BB Bastards on my GBBR, no problems.
