A stock JG won't have a bearing spring guide. More than likely it'll be a standard plastic one if it's an older gun, maybe a standard metal one if it's a newer one. It's likely to also have plastic bushings.

Check the capacity of the battery (in mAh) and the current of the charger (assuming you're using the wall charger).

Battery capacity (in aH) / charge rate of the charger (in A) = charge time.

So a 1500 mAh battery (for example) = 1.5 Ah
Charger = 500 mA (for example) = .5 A

1.5 Ah / .5A = 3h

Your time will vary depending on your battery and charger.

If you are using a wall charger, I would strongly recommend, if you intend to preserve your battery, to invest in a smart charger that will actually stop charging when your battery is full. Overcharging will kill your battery.

The charger that comes with the jg mp5 is really bad, mine lasted only a week so i had to purchase another charger. I bought the firefox quickcharger and it charges my 8.4v in just an hour, anymore than that and im gonna get a busted battery. There are 3 of us in our team that uses a JG MP5 and we run it stock cause we prefer to just wear out the gearbox before we do major upgrades cause it runs fine on stock. The only upgrades we have done on our mp5's was installing an SCS on the hop-up which really gave our short guns fantastic groupings on longer ranges. By the way the site that i play on is a field with open fps with guns that go beyond 500 fps and with all the upgrades you can imagine, but it only took a single upgrade for us to go toe to toe with longer guns.

Gravewolf can you PM me your email i would like to ask you a few questions? Im not sure what kinda capacity of the battery (in mAh) its 1100 i think thats the only number i can see. I would assume the charge will have the current info on it? I ordered a G&P 9.6V 1100mAh mini type Ni-MH battery for my SD5. I just didnt wanna kill it and leave it plugged in for like 8 hours.

On another MP5 note what type of upgrade spring and barrels should i be buying. I see tons of different ones 110-170sp? Are they all the same length or should i be looking for something different? I find my bb's are flying perfect for 50ft or so then take a dive big time. Even with the hop-up adjusted.

With so many terms and items for upgrades i feel a bit lost, any one good site i can read up of parts and there operations?

Thank you.

Your battery is an 1100 mAh, or 1.1 Ah. Find whatever the current of your charger, and divide the battery capacity by that according to my formula above.

And I'd say if your BBs are dropping at 50 feet out, then that means your hopup isn't set correctly. You need to add more hopup.

Don't worry about upgrading yet.

If your BB's are dropping at 50', I can think of one of four reasons:
-Your hop-up is set too high
-Your hop-up is set too little
-You didn't clean the barrel
-You're shooting the wrong weight of BB (outdoor.. should be .25 or .28). Too heavy will cause it to drop.

Those points I'll disagree with. I can shoot .3 out of my MP5 or any other gun and I still get excellent range without dropping. They just need a more agressive hopup setting. For the most part, heavier BBs will increase your gun's effective range, not lower it.

Too much hopup will cause the BBs to sharply curve upwards at about 50 feet, not drop.

I disagree. I've fired .25's out of my TM MP5, and it cuts the range significantly. The gun just doesn't have the power to shoot ammo that heavy.

As for the hop-up, it's possible on some guns to protrude it into the barrel so much it causes a significant FPS drop. On my G36 with full hop, my shots drop after about 50'.

In relation to this gun in question which is a stock JG (a lot hotter than a stock TM), heavier BBs shouldn't have that effect. I'll concede that it's possible for too much hopup can in come cases cause the BB to lose too much velocity. I'll have BBs either jam or just roll out the barrel on my Type 56 if I put too much hopup.

i was shooting .20g bbs and had both a dive up and down at about 50ft. So ill try some .25 and see what i get. To get a good clean on the barrel is there something i should use or just the long rod that came with the gun. A pipe cleaner maybe? I also didn't lube it up till now not sure if that will help.

Actually, that sounds to me like either a dirty barrel or a really bad hop-up unit... I'm willing to bet dirty barrel. JG hop-up units aren't horrible. Use the rod the gun came with. Wrap the end in a soft felt cleaning pad with a bit of silicone oil. The repeat a few times without the oil to make sure you get it all out.

So i had my 1st outdoor game with my GJ MP5 SD5 and it worked great it was shooting at around 300fps and for the most part good accuracy for 50 yards in the bush. I wanted to get some more distance and power to my shots so im looking at a new spring, spring guide and bushings. I read that the m120 springs are what i should be looking at but i am a bit confused...i found sp 120% and up on ebay is that the same thing? With the stock GJ gun the gear box is what version? And as for bushings what should i look for?

Thanks in advance guys... your advice is always a big help.

Spring Guides:

Springs:

Bushings: This is the most confusing part to me i have seen so many different ones. 7mm-6mm?
