There was a case where I live where a guy got pissed at aonther driver and pointed his G&P M4 at him. The other driver called the cops, who took the fellow down on the road. He went to court and plead guilty (to what I have no idea as I wasn't able to find the court info), but he got his gun back from the judge after a hefty fine.
How do I know this? Becasue the retailer who sold him the gun gave it to me to fix, as the owner complained that "the cops fucked it up" while it was in the evidence lock-up. So, not everyone in enforcement is of the same mind on this subject. Apparently, the cop who returned it to this fellow told him "you could have got a real one for the price you paid for that toy". This was 3 years ago or so.

I'm sure there are cases where the guns were not ruled as replicas. You have a perfect example right there. But for the sake of practicality and keeping our game / sport alive, it's always best to err on the side of caution and treat and consider them as replicas. It's a crap-shoot as to what cops, crown attorney, or a judge may consider the gun as. As Miles stated in the Q&A, they're determined on a case-by-case basis, and we should assume they will be rules as replicas, even though this isn't always the case.
And yeah, the cop was right about the price too. :lol I know I looked into the price of a real Armalite M15A4 rifle from US sites a couple of months ago, and they sold for $599 US. I paid about $700 Cdn for my Classic Army M15A4...

ya but the trade off is you cant shoot people with them lol (as bad as that sounds). I mean what is better than having your favourite guns? Shooting people with them! Of course what makes this so great is that no one gets hurt (unless you count bruises) and its all in good fun. Its just like playing soldier when you were kids, except this time, you dont have to imagine you are holding your favourite gun, you actually get to. God airsoft rocks!

Yeah, I agree. For me, the airsoft thing started as collecting. I wanted to have replicas of my favorite guns. I had no idea that people actually PLAYED with this things in organized games. Once I discovered that... well, the urge to turn these things loose on willing targets is just too strong to deny! lol
