My sincerely advice? Don't.
This is at best a waste of time or money, at worse something that could hurt us. We don't need someone "fighting the good fight" just because. The only fight we need is the neccessary fight and the winnable fight. Airsoft manufacturers are not a bunch of corporate juggernauts, they're not going to throw their weight into this because: 1. You're absolutely nobody; 2. They've got no such weight to throw. The way I see if, dealing with CBSA, CITT and RCMP policy on imitation firearm is like fighting the Borg. If you throw something at them in piecemeal skirmishes over time, they just adapt to each occasions separately at the low level. You get no where except being out of ammunition. If you're going to do it at all, you throw everything into one decisive engagement and take it as high as it'll go, because nothing short of the Federal court system is going to dent their defences of ignorance, extra-legal tactics and unaccountability.

Are any of you...or are you all so alienated that your gona curl up into a little ball (rhetorical question). Anyhow, this is my last post on this subject till i get some results from my end. In the mean time, if anyone is interested in getting involved and stepping up to the plate instead of playing armchair lawyer and actually doing some legwork along with me, please feel free to PM me.

Where's LawDOg when one needs him? Most of the time we roll our eyes when he posts, yet this is a case where we need a "legal ekspurt" to debate, and there are no lawyers around.

im all for legalizing airsoft and such. but really, if the process of such brings unnecessary negative attention to our sport, then i'll just man up and spend the ridiculous markup to get guns from within canada. the last thing i want is to be cut off from guns completely and (god forbid) to make playing airsoft illegal, like how it is in Australia. While i understand your frustration, id rather take it slow. your heart is in the right place. but there are too many variables. if in the process of raising positive awareness about airsoft, you get some negative attention, then our sport could become even more restrictive. i for one do not want that. at least now we can play and obtain guns. so why mess with a delicate balance. if the laws change, it will be a top down approach (i.e. canadian government will have talks with british government and then they will fix the laws), not a bottom up approach.

"19. The CBSA submitted that the guns in issue are not firearms since the projectiles that they discharge are unlikely to cause serious bodily injury or death to a person, as required by the definition of a “firearm” pursuant to section 2 of the Criminal Code. The Tribunal agrees with the CBSA that, to be considered a firearm, an airsoft pistol must have a muzzle velocity that exceeds 124 metres per second (407 feet per second)."

Yes, one with an annoying political bent that offers his opinion as the word of God (wait a minute, that's a requirement of the "bar"), but a lawyer none the less.

The only way (in my opinion) to ever get anything done, is to get it out there in your face style (but with cooth and professionalism) and lobby lobby lobby. Its the only way to get things done. All you will do is stagnate if you sit back and do nothing!

But don't let us stop you, because obviously, we can't. Just spare us the smug jabs about how you're a doer and we're not.
