I did cut that part out. I cut out the same amounts that I shaved the tabs off.

The front half was a bit tricky because there were a few parts that spilled out when i unscrewed the plate. Was a bit tricky figuring out the ultimate orientation and position of the spring that provides tension to the firing pin (the long side of the spring goes through the open slot in the middle of the firing pin with tension towards the rear of the trigger box, by the way). The rest of the parts (hammer and valve locker) were straightforward.

If you guys want to save a bit of money, you don't really need to replace inner select lever because this is a non-impact, low wear part.

Great quality parts from RA-Tech!
Where did you get the parts? I can't find them anywhere. On their site there's no "buy" button.

WE AK 74 u survived only 43 shots.

So I go to my airsoft store excited to buy my first decent gbbr, and i pick up a king arms M4. This weapon was familiar to me...for I have become very personal with it durring my tours of Afghanistan and Iraq. I take this thing home, show the wife, load it up and fire...Nothing is projecting from the barrel. Go figure the guy at the store who sold it to me breaks the bolt carrier from over loading the mag during the test fire. I end up taking their last WE AK 74 U.

THIS AK 74 U LOOKS and SHOOTS LIKE AN MP5a1 on STEROIDS...

I used green gas.
As I load my second magazine ever...the bolt locks to the rear.:banghead:

Yes my Hammer snapped. Yes my Sear snapped. And an unidentified broken pot metal object has fallen out also.

RA-TECH should just contract with WE and sell their weapons pre installed with RA-TECH cnc steel trigger kits.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::bang head:

Does anyone know how long shipping takes from RA TECH?

Eeyore from Garrison Airsoft sells the trigger parts. Check the AV Retailer Section.

I know that www.airsoftparts.ca will be stocking up on them in a week or so.

AK 74u bolt carrier

Has anyone seen a steel bolt carrier? And i noticed that WE has a video online of a block that fits in the rear of the lower reciever which reduces the bolt travel by about an inch and a half to increase the RPS significantly. I want this upgrade, but i am concerned that the bolt carrier will snap in half if i install a home made version.

Ra tech trigger parts shipped

I placed my order from AIRSOFTTAIWAN.COM for the CNC STEEL TRIGGER KIT. I have sent an inquiry and recieved a reply within 24 hours. They have shipped the item to continental USA california, and will take approximately 10-14 Days. I will post my tracking status to let you guys know my experience with RA TECH orders.

I have this upgrade. They call it a "short stroke for WE AK". It's a pretty hefty metal block that slides to the back of the lower receiver. There's a spring loaded dampener to minimize the impact of the bolt carrier onto the block. It's a pretty stiff spring. The good news is, the short stroke upgrade increases the rate of fire to match real steel (around 12 rounds per second or 700 rounds per minute).... Bad news is, the bolt carrier hits the block pretty damned hard.... In my opinion, hard enough to shorten the life of your stock bolt carrier. If you really want the upgrade, I'd wait for a steel bolt carrier (hopefully in the works). To me, I kinda like having a full travel bolt.

If you want something homemade, try replacing the recoil spring with something stiffer or add a spacer. That should give a little bit of boost.

I am not sure if a steel carrier is a good idea. The parts need to be balanced in weight and a steel carrier might be too heavy to push back with the available gas pressure. I do not think the carrier needs to be steel anyway - it's a sizable chunk of metal and I really can't see it failing. Perhaps aluminum would work if you wanted higher quality but low weight?

Got mine today....expect a bit of delay due to the Christmas season. I place my orders directly with RA-Tech since their replies are timely, offer good pricing, provides me updates/sneek peeks on upcoming products, and sends me parts as needed...I completed many orders with them, and will continue to do so.

Just note for those of you who are installing the new trigger parts, the parts fit well together and install without mods, but keep in mind there appears to be a break-in period. Parts may not move 100% smoothly together for the first several mags, but they eventually work themselves out. Don't forget to grease the parts with lube and just dry fire the first 10 or so mags to get the trigger set worked in.

It's been a couple of weeks now for me and my new trigger set is now at 100% in terms of smooth operation. It started off at a subjective 75%.

Happy to report zero problems with the new steel trigger set after countless cycles. It's worth the upgrade.

Let me know if it's worthwhile for me to post instructions with pics with regards to any of the upgrades I've done including the steel trigger set, NPAS installation, and short-stroke installation. I'm also contemplating changing out the hop up rubber to the RaTech ones or the Nineball Purple ones I have coming.

I have to say, that despite all its flaws the AK-74 is a great gas blowback rifle. One of the most noticable things is that airsoft guns are becoming more and more like real guns in their construction and finish. Although the real AK-74 has a phosphated finish that is painted over, the WE's blued steel finish is very realistic and looks amazing.

The other positive side is that the assembly of these rifles are improving. It used to be they were held together by set screws with loose fitting parts. The set screws are still there but parts like the barrel and gas block are also pinned to the rifle and barrel, just like real steel. These small details will go a long way to ensuring the rifle stands up to hard use.

Indeed, I pulled my AK apart last night to swap out the barrel, and was really impressed with the construction.

Very realistic , and robust.. and simple..
