Who cares? Huh, most people here on ASC. Because if they actually (eventually) ban clearsoft, they would probably also act on "regular" (ie black or any other friggin color) airsoft.

It would suck if they made all airsoft illegal(to play it etc.). I wouldn't care if they just banned importation of clear guns.

I think everyone is worried because if there is more access to Airsoft, there will be more people (i.e. kids) with airsoft, and eventually there will be more idiots with airsoft.

But didn't the paintball community have to go through this too? I don't know how much I like the idea of airsoft guns being so widely available that they are in stores, but if the store in question can at least be responsible, and know what they are selling and make sure that joe shmoe 12 year old doesn't walk off with a gun we should be able to live through this too.

That, I definitely agree. Sure, it makes it easier to acess but hell... anyone who wants to "do something bad" with an imitation firearm can go to Walmart or Canadian Tire to get it way easier, I don't think he would pay for a good airsoft gun which costs way more if a crapsoft with Krylon looks *almost* the same... There would probably be underagesofters to buy this, yes. But those would be the players. Stupid kids would still buy the crapsoft.

Banning importation of clear guns was what I was talking about Comanche.
It would probably be easier to just put them on the banned for importation list than to right up new laws regarding airsoft specifically. (Maybe not sure) So maybe they will not be around for long and we will be right back to where we were in early 2008(No Cansoft).Maybe?? Who knows.

... There's really no need for a debate.

It all boils down to:

Bad for us.

I was thinking more along the lines of kids bringing their new toys to school, and having a red alert lockdown thing called, all on account of some 14 year old brought his new toy to show little Timmy.

Not so much a malicious attack with a BB gun, or other inteded mischief. Anyone who wants to do that, doesn't need airsoft being sold in stores to do that. This just adds another element to their mischief, which does happen to bring bad publicity for the sport in general now.

Basically, Amos pegged it quite nicely for us.

I have heard that actual happen in one place where 2 kids bring in airsoft guns and cause lockdown.

I feel that if kids do stupid thing with airsoft guns, likely police will blame parents than store (assume store actual do age verified) but I do see young kids about 12 years old with parent try out airsoft gun.

Overall, it would be parents' responsible to know what they buy for kids. and most parent failed to do this. however assume government make it illegal to sell cheap weapon like clear gun, and left only metal gun with high price, I bet most parent will decide to buy PS3 instead and keep kids busy with M rated game. -_-

Or it might just lead to a ban on importation of replica guns with clear receivers. That should make a lot of people here happy including Amos. It would be the flavour of the month as far as media goes then you likely won't here of it anymore. Let's try to have a little optimism here as it's pretty much out of our control anyways. I am done trying to push my little theory. Just trying to give you all a little hope.(except the under 18 crowd):

one more thing to add, government should make it law that u must be 18+ to buy and possess airsoft gun. so Police can remove airsoft gun from kids if they see them with it.

If I remember well, Ontario has made it, but 16+ (correct me if I'm wrong).

But the federal governement probably won't do anything about airsoft guns themselves.

Anyway, now I STFU. It's becoming the same 18+/legalization/blablah topic as always...

I don't think they'd stop at clear bodies.

Only hit them first because they are more visable...

How ironic is that?

Anywho, what it comes down to, is we have tried very hard to police our own, and maintain our image so that if the sky ever does fall we don't look like terrorists in training. We try to keep 18+, weed out the idiots, be reponsible, get parents involved, be smart, and create a baseline for common sense.

This undermines everything. Whether or not this ends up being a fatal wound remains to be seen, but a wound it is.

Edit: like Amos said, it's bad. It just remains to see how bad.
