Just to be an ass, I'll throw in that there are things like Guarder C4s which have an elastic strap, foam for sealing the goggles up against your face, etc. They have high coolness factor, and by the accounts of people who've used 'em the polycarb lens is as good as any other out there.

But as far as I can tell they aren't rated for anything (ANSI, ASTM, ESRB, nothing) :P

I wrote yesterday to ESS for this issue. They're very professionnal, and the reply came today. Their goggle is not yet approved for airsoft but the guy told me they are launching a special line of airsoft product in SEPTEMBER. They're working on a rigid clip that fit the NVG Profile goggles to prevent anything from entering by the border of the goggles.

...sounds good to me!

I have a friend with ESS goggles. He says they are suitable for airsoft. He shot it at 380 FPS point blank and nothing happened. They don't fog up eaither.

He did not mention anything about the foamy part of it.

Just a question to maybe ask them the next time you contact them: does that mean they are submitting these new airsoft specific goggles for paintball ASTM testing since most fields require that standard? Or are they just adding that special clip you mentioned and marketing it as "airsoft specific?"

If it's the latter, it's not going to help people that will need to still use big clunky paintball goggles since tactical goggles might not be allowed at their local fields.

i bought a pair of asian fit goggles from them a few months ago. for the extra $$$ all u get is some foam added to the regular fit. if u ask me, i feel ripped off. and then when i bought them, they wouldn't allow me to buy them unless i bought another piece of plastic that wraps around the goggles, and has a nose piece, make u look like a bird. the whole reason behind it was mentioned earlier, the bbs can get through the areas around the tops and bottoms. under the foam thats there are big enough holes for bb's to fly right through.

ess goggles do fog up, depends on what kind of hat and or mask u are wearing with them. and using anti fog is a bad idea, unless uhave oakley anti fog. just like the oakley hockey visors u need the special sprauy or they look like they shattered. ess is owned by oakley.
