Sorry if I'm stepping on anyones thread with something a bit off topic...
Has anyone converted a metal body (I don't mean buy a Hurricane/other kit and convert...I mean take an M4 body and mod it) to raise the rail and build their own 416? I'm not a big "M4" body detail person...i.e. what bump should be where or what angle should be what...is there a difference between a 416 body (re. angles/lines) and an M4 body, aside from the obvious trade markings? Anyone have a 416 forend that they'd want to donate to a project build?  Thanks, Tys |

I know Nova316 has converted a metal M4 body to use an HK416 body with minimal sanding using a pipe as a spacer. The main difference is that top rail height.

Thank you, I'll contact him when I get all the bits together.
I was going to cut off the top rail with a bandsaw...raise it with metal plate...drill pin it together and epoxy-steel it for a finish (then paint). I'll browse the classifieds for a beater 416 to prototype on. Cheers, Tys |

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I just wonder if there is only me find out that the stock on HK 416 is ugly. If I would buy 416, I would change the stock right away. It's really look ugly to me.

yes, If I would go to 416, I would change the stock to crane stock or just a AR stock or magpul stock.

if you had the balls and well the connection to some one whom knows tig welding you could get the dimesions and cut it and then have some one tig it as it does the littles distorsion to the metal and also provides great metal pennatration for shuch a small arch and the clean up would be very very small and it would come out nice thats how i would do it though
