After the shitty quality of my PTS B.A.D. - I'm reluctant to ever buy anything PTS again.

It's all genuine Magpul from here on out for this M4 user.

I have a replacement BAD on the way from Magpul PTS with "their sincerest apologies", but they told me I "overtightened it". Despite the fact that it was still a little loose when it was "overtightened".

But I digress...

I'm modding my UBR stock to be strong enough to use a sling, thought my gun actually looked pretty awesome without a stock

I am assuming this is a WE BAD, which is very close to RS's. It's a small Aluminum piece with a steel screw, it'll take no force at all to strip it.....and once you over torque the aluminum piece you are pretty much f-ed, RS or otherwise....

Yup. It was the WE/PTW version. But the screw didn't strip. The back plate - which was white metal - broke in half.

I think I have a pic somewhere from when I complained to Airsoft Buddy and Magpul PTS... I'll have to look for it.

The RS one(which I have) is 6061 aluminum, and as such will likely to break too if I torque it too hard....its a tiny thread...

Yeah, 6061 isn't very tough AT ALL. Very easy to strip.
Depending on the size you might be better off drilling it out and installing a helicoil to give you a nice steel thread...
Otherwise I might be able to make custom steel ones out of 1018.... Or atleast steel bushings to prevent them from stripping

no need, the torque needed isn't much, and you always loctite the thread anyway...

would've been pointless since the point was to hold close to the bore axis...

Yeah - I have one on the way.

Just got my r/s MOE grip and MS2 sling in the mail yesterday. Updated pics when the AFG and some rail panels come in.

Where are you guys ordering your Magpul AFG's from? They are restricted and won't ship to Canada...or are they the PTS versions?

On a sidenote, Jar-Head, what tool did you use for the redi-mag weight reduction? And do you notice a difference from the original weight?

Thanks

You can get the PTS ones almost anywhere - and for Airsoft purposes, they should be perfectly adequate.

As for where to get r/s ones - If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

Is PTS that different than RS? I mean it's just a grip on any 20mm rails?
