I haven't opened it up, but the process isn't that difficult. As for the mechbox, it's just like any other V2 mechbox. Check out www.mechbox.com. They have tons of video guides, including a full disassembly and reassembly of the TM MP5-J (which this gun is a 100% clone of). And they have a video guide on the upgrade of a V2 mechbox too.

I have 3 TM 100 round mags. If anything, the fit is tighter than with the stock high cap. I haven't had any problems with them or the included hi-cap.

Little update. I brought my MP5 to a game today and loaned it to one of the players. It was passed around for a lot of test firing, and everyone was most impressed with it. I was on the receiving end of it too, and that bugger made me bleed from taking a shot to the thigh.

Still stock, and still going strong. I really like this gun. I may use it myself at a future outdoor game.

Installed a CA metal cocking tube / front end on it. Wow. Does it ever add a substantial weight to the gun. The CA front end without without any issue or any mods required. I highly recommend this upgrade for anyone that wants to add a touch of realism to their gun. Now looking for a metal upper receiver to complete the gun.

Did the mod on my side, also with the Metal Upper Receiver.

So, the MP5 is now all reel steel (and plastic where it should). With front RAS section. Is the RAS configuration use in real world? LAPD I think use the RAS on the MP5?

I use the CYMA RAS for the metal outer barrel, and it was painfull to make it fit on the metal upper body (from JG). Beware, it require lot of cutting and filling.

Now, I m looking for the foward hand grip from JG (which can hold a 8.4V battery). It would appear that you cannot buy this part on the market alone...

Anyone know where I could find it?

Thanks

UPDATE REPORT: It's been a while and the gun has not been fully upgraded externally, but still running on the stock mechbox. A full update with pics is available at the URL below.

No, they'll probably only ship parts to Canada. The gun will probably get seized...or I'm totally wrong and I'm gonna get flamed....
You'll most likely end up paying a whole LOT more than $90 for an AEG in Canada.

The gun will get seized if it is shipped from a US site. You won't get flamed GSK, because you were right.

There are US retailers that will ship guns to Canada. They have no issues with taking your money. However, they accept no responsibility for any items seized at the border and / or any legal issues you may encounter. Once they have your money and shipped the item, they've filled their part of the deal. Whatever happens from that point on is not their responsibility.

Been using the jg mp5 ras metal body for over a year with absolutely NO issues.
Not a jam or misfire. I did do a durability upgrade right out of the box though.

Jg has only gotten better since.

Seeing how mechanically reliable my 2 JG guns have been considering their extensive useage, I'm sold that they are by far the best guns to come out of China to date. I'm sure like any brand, they still have their lemons and problematic pieces, but they've been the one Chinese manufacturer who have learned their past lessons well and make very good looking, very durable guns for a really great price.

Yeah, I'll readily admit that other than the lower receiver, there's no stock JG left on this gun externally. But the mechbox is still stock and it's still going strong without even any prevantative maintenance. The only issue I have with the mechbox is what I believe to be a worn cutoff lever, so the gun only fires auto now. Not really a big deal IMO. No jams, misfires, feed issues, etc. I think that speaks very well in favour of JG.

Over the winter, I'll be popping it open to clean it and I'll probably toss in a spare lever from another cracked mechbox I have. But otherwise, I'm not touching anything else, and plan on shooting this thing as-is till something in the mechbox explodes. Then I can get a true test of exactly how durable JG internals are.

I really have to agree with you. I was skeptical when I ordered my first JG in January, but it's been good to me the whole season and I've put thousands of rounds through it! Hell, I have a TM as backup!

My JG Mp5 was only problems from the start (itnernally). Even after replacing all the internals with a reinforced gearbox, the gearbox broke thanks to a metal body to tight.

After spending a lot of money and getting a new gearbox, it was tested and found no problem then sold.

Pain in the ass also to disassemble!
